The good folks in AMC Magic Johnson Harlem 9 were none too pleased by the knot that Jordan Peele tied them in at a matinee last Thursday. A screening of the director’s new flick, the extraterrestrial horror Nope, might as well have been an open hydrant amid the East Coast heatwave. But that ending? The question “that’s it?” got lobbed in unison (and with hella vex) from multiple rows as the screen faded to black. Granted, that response wasn’t exactly a Rotten Tomatoes aggregation (Nope is running up the score there). It does, though, point to something hovering over the whole proceedings, and we’re not talking saucers just yet.

If there’s a single common question in all of Peele’s work behind the camera up to now, it’s the oldest one in the book of motion-picture making: What, exactly, is this movie about?

I really hope not.

And Jordan doesn't seem like the type to do sequels.
That's why Cloverfield was so underrated IMO.

The viral marketing campaign they did was insane and they went as far as including those details in the film itself.

Just saying. If you're gonna do a new concept, the LEAST you can do for viewers is give some lore or design reason for it.

I mean the UFO never terrorized them if I remember correctly, it was just one night where it wanted to eat the horse… or else it would’ve just eaten them whenever he wanted to in the month or so before the present timeline where Jupe had been having shows, selling tickets to see the UFO eat a live horse

The UFO just literally camouflages in the cloud and sits there

He says the line multiple times and the time I'm referring to is after the entity literally sh*ts blood on them. He decides to go bk to the house. His sister is unhappy about it, and bam, the director calls her.

So even after it does 200% start to antagonize them, he still wants to go back.

She was introduced as Mary Jo who was referenced earlier in the SNL sketch. So she was deformed in the chimp attack. That’s the connection i guess.

It’s a throughline from earlier that cements the theme of profiting from death and replicating it through media

Jupe learned the wrong lesson from his trauma. He thought he had a connection with Gordy the way he says "the aliens trust me". He tried to profit off JJ the same way he tried to profit off the incident.

This movie was alright for me. I didn’t love it like Get Out and I didn’t even enjoy it as much as Us

loved this movie. definitely my favorite jordan peele movie off first watch.

Was Oppenheimer the lead in for everyone? Seemed like some sucker s*** to do a count down for another movie to lead in someone else’s

I spent like half the movie waiting for overt yet subversive social commentary like the other two movies, and I definitely ruined my experience doing so
