The only downside to this flopping is that this is just going to reaffirm the fact that major studios are risk averse.
We’re never getting a non standard superhero movie for a long long time
I have no doubt that with any other director who's not Todd Scissorhands, a Joker musical would've been much better executed.
Just rewatched Joker 1
And the musical s*** isn’t as random as we all thought…music is a big part of Arthur’s character
He dances all throughout the movie and literally sings at the end…so Todd Phillips wasn’t talking out his ass…he did plant the seeds
A lot more action in Joker 1…which I do wish we got more of in 2 but it makes sense since he’s a prisoner and in court lol…he can’t have a gun in those scenarios
Joker 2 wasn’t needed but I think the sequel compliments the first one nicely after the rewatch
Cope harder
I don’t understand why Todd decided to do a musical if he wasn’t gonna commit to it. Useless.
Joaquin was good ig.
Feel like if you never gave a f*** about Arthur as a character you’d definitely hate this but I liked seeing deeper into him in this movie
This is so stupid
I weep for future generations.
Conspiracy brainrot is EVERYWHERE

The best thing this movie did was reduce Arthur to a small, narcissistic, impotent man. I thought it was interesting. I like seeing the character come to the realization he’s full of s***.
It’s like what they did with Walter White.

I hate this b**** and i hate when people rt her unironically , wants to be a more edgy red scare so bad laughing at americans getting raped in india and s***

I liked his arc
Except I genuinely felt bad/sympathy for him by the end
I want to examine the psychology of people who think authur is bad but have no problem with the Arkham gestapo raping, d***ging him and killing his friends. Vro 2face was the states prosecutor and Mfers still only have smoke for Arthur

Yeah, I don't think it's one or the other. All these movies were ever trying to say was that you can feel bad for him, and also hold him accountable for his actions. It's complicated. Mental illness always is.
It felt like there wasn’t much really going on in this, I also thought there was going to be more group dancing like something in the prison yard or otherwise. The acting wasn’t bad by any means. Do y’all think it was Gary that made him snap out of it and give up the joker thing? Or he just had a moment of clarity where he couldn’t live up to the icon image? Left a lot to be desired. Some parts were interesting for sure but overall not great and definitely a severe departure from the last one.
I must be high on copium cause I genuinely liked some of the musical sequences in this
One thing I can say is this movie was very depressing in tone
Not to say the movie is good but the message seems to be a bit ahead of its time.
In the end there was no mastermind or deep plot. We just witnessed an insane person that should've received help years ago break down.
I think that was probably the motivation behind the movie because lots of people misunderstood the first one. Like I think even tho most people agreed that the Joker is a villain many watchers bathed in the revenge narrative.
Where the first movie was some kind of twisted fantasy for everybody that feels forgotten by society the second in its final act brutally drags us out of that,
I always disliked the first for being kinda loser bait. This one seems to be the correction in some way
This was hard? I fell asleep like halfway thru gotta go back and rewatch lol but I liked it a lot!
