same beat too
The problem religious people would have with this method is that they aren’t talking about just any God. They are talking about THEIR God. So Bieber or whoever just saying they believe wouldn’t be enough
It would have to be to the T. Like Jay is asking people do they believe in the Abrahamic God, in particular the God Islam or The Nation identifies with. Not just some universal order
Like if he were to ask someone of Hindu faith, their answer would be yes but they would probably be talking about Shiva. That wouldn’t suffice for someone like Jay
"Same old rugged cross, different crucified Messiah".
i guess. ur perspective kind of assumes a radical polytheism though. From a monotheistic perspective though, I think my approach is reasonable.
For example, either Brahman and Christian God are literally two separate entities, or its the same God under a different name. The first way, you get to assume that your religion is "right" and the other one is "wrong", but it also comes with the assumption of multiple gods. The second way, you kinda lose the ability to say that you're of the "right" belief, but it also means u don't assume a polytheistic worldview.
Personally, as someone raised Christian, the second way seems more consistent with my beliefs.
Really, the question shouldn't be "do you believe in God", it should be "Do you know God like I do?"
agreed on the 2nd view too. as a muslim i see the god i follow as the same god in braham and christian faiths, we all just have different ways of worshipping him.

Hmm let me see if I can real this down in the best way possible
the world view of someone with a monotheistic belief usually sees that only their God exists
All others are false & don’t truly exist because they are fabricated whether it be for decieit or other reasons
So to point out your first scenario, it wouldn’t be accepting the existence of other Gods. Instead it would be accepting that others BELIEVE in other Gods yet are wrong because those Gods don’t exist. Their texts usually support this notion especially in Christianity, Judaism & Islam. Brahman & Christian God are sepertate because the one I don’t believe in is the one that truly doesn’t exist. Jay is asking if they believe in his God not because he believes others exist but because he thinks to BELIEVE in the existence of any other God is wrong
Ultimately it’s not pointing towards any polytheism but doubles down on monotheistic thought
The second scenario is monotheistic as well but would require the believer to be okay with different understanding of the God they believe to be true. Usually that comes with debates of getting others to understand THEIR knowledge of God because they may believe to know God more than others
You actually made a great example of this when you said you think the question should focus on if the person knows God like I do
For the non humble mind, this can still cause the scenario Jay is in with these tweets. Both scenarios does.

i feel like most people who value the idea of there being one god would agree yeah

ngl i realized that abt the first scenario halfway thru typing my post but i just didnt care enough to stop
u right lol
although idk claiming some other group of people's god to be false is wild. so like what theres one true god and he just never f***ed w indian people? and he's got nothing to do with brahman? these people worshipped a "one true god" by accident??
for context last part isnt directed to u im just thinking out loud
Jay Z doesn’t believe in god

At first he was cosplaying as a Satanist now he‘s cosplaying as a spiritual Muslim
