I don't think anyone has defended pedophilia though, more so just stating a fact, the state of being a pedophile isn't a crime, it's child molestation that is (rightfully so) a crime, this is also an example of why rehabilitation is so important in the case of pedophiles specifically as to ensure that no child is ever harmed.

ironically the only person itt that of my knowledge defended wanting to do things such as lower the age of consent is the same one calling for the death penalty

Show me documented cases and peer reviewed studies of pedophiles that have been successfully rehabilitated. Most are repeat offenders mind you.

Also, I don't believe a repeated offender in a rapist deserves rehabilitation just as a repeated killer. Both are violent crimes. Pedophiles are in most cases rapists if we're talking about ones who are caught, so as such my view extends to them as well.

110 of the 1,500 inmates released from Rikers Island jail over covid fears have been re-arrested for new crimes

Data show 110 inmates who were among 1,500 inmates released in March over COVID-19 fears have been re-arrested

About a quarter of the arrests were for burglaries, which helps explain the 43 per cent jump in break-ins citywide over the past month

Total of 1,500 inmates were freed in March alone, of whom at least 7 per cent have re-offended

Man let out of jail for $50 accused of beating his ex and her grandma

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- A man beat his ex-girlfriend and threw her grandmother to the ground two weeks after he was released from jail on a low bond after being arrested for a violent crime, according to Harris County records.

Timothy Singleton, 31, has a warrant out for his arrest.

Two weeks ago, he was released from jail after paying $50 on a $500 bond. The bond was controversial because he has violent convictions. Most recently he was accused of pulling a gun out on his aunt's neighbor.

At his first court appearance at the end of March, Magistrate Jennifer Gaut and prosecutor Karen Barney had a heated exchange about the bond amount.

Barney requested a $50,000 bond based on his criminal history. Gaut ultimately explained COVID-19 concerns in the jail were driving her decisions.

    Synopsis

The point is people arrested for s***offenses dont often commit more s***offenses

Research has shown that s***offenders are more likely to recidivate with a nonsexual offense than a sexual offense (see, e.g., Hanson & Bussière, 1998). Studies have also shown that some crimes legally labeled as nonsexual in the criminal histories of s***offenders may indeed be sexual in their underlying behavior (Doren, 2010; Rice et al., 2006; Heil et al., 2009).
