Not really liking any of Ruthven’s other singles but Hypothalamus is the best PI release to date imo. I think the Pauls waited too long. It’s been 6 years & these artists have released a handful of singles?

It’s hard for them to have built up momentum because of that it kinda sucks

Wow Ruthven is such a damn talent. I was not expecting such a tune. The stripped back version is so great as well.

some questions on my mind

PI site still inactive, the early drops have been private soundcloud links.. what's goin on there? tech troubles? maybe they lost their web developer and are in the process of getting a new one lol.. maybe Jai is learning front end web dev and taking his time as he does on all projects?

Ruthven is an "alumnus" now? Seems like XL is stepping up for him, they are promoting his stuff on socials. I wonder if PI provides a pipeline to XL once an artist is ready. Would be a savvy business move. Kind of suggests PI is like a music "tech incubator"... but cooler obviously....

anyone reckon since Ruthven has "graduated", we will see a new PI signee to occupy the vacancy? would be odd considering we haven't heard much from some other members.

They are definitely gonna get new artists signed to Paul Institute and hone their skills

meh, signing to p.i. gave these artists a decent amounts of exposure based a couple of single releases, and they got to work with some great quality musicians in Jai and AK and whoever else is involved with p.i.

I'm sure plenty of other musicians would gladly be in Ruthven's shoes, or anyone else who is currently/formly signed to them

i had that moment with "He" a few months ago. Both of those b-sides have a lot of depth and are really rewarding to keep listening to. DYLHN has such a great D'Angelo vibe to me, it's very uplifting.

nah not the signed artists but jai and ak had so much more pop back in the day, I’m sure whenever jai releases it’ll make noise but not like it would’ve. they never seemed like the ones to care but it would’ve been nice to see. ah well..
