15 listens in and this gotta be the best release since The Melodic Blue
Trying to not use the word mid but that’s exactly what this is
It's like a tier above mid
Which is better than pure mid
he peaked 10 years ago
I shouldn’t have clicked play on this tbh but I had to turn it off after he said he was nappy headed
Unconditional love is a large and important ideal imo.
If there is no brotherhood, how are we to navigate on a spiritual level?
Sure, brotherhood is complex but just to toss it away because it doesn't serve you personally is funny to me. Imagine if you made a mistake and every single one of your brothers condemned you...
Would you want to be a part of this world?
Brotherhood has served me, but it has also held me back in ways.
In my teen years I thought my bros would be forever, and I’m glad some of us are still friends. I’m not throwing it away, but during my growth and relationships I realized how the brotherhood got insidious and toxic to the point of falling out with people
It depends on the mistake’ if one of my friends did what Jack rapped about on GGG then we all condemning that. that’s beyond foul
Better than his last album for sure. If he keeps going in this direction he could be better and release a truly good or even great album. At this point I feel like he just threw some good ideas together and called it an album.
It's not mid, but I wouldn't say it's really good either. But again, much better than the last album.

"he’s saying what happened but he doesn’t spell out how he feels about it happening"
I can give you that, the song clearly missing the emotions aspect of it. But still think ur reading that line off
It's just him saying push came to shove and unconditional love is not unconditional
Yeah you could be right, but I feel like him not explicitly stating his feelings is the thing that leaves it pretty open for interpretation. That’s why a couple people thought he was being an apologist. They were definitely wrong but I do think he’s hinting at feeling sad and disillusioned by the idea of losing something that’s supposed to be unconditional. I don’t think the whole point of the verse is just an “I do not associate with this individual anymore” statement but I could be filling in the blanks wrong

Good way to put it

it's growth. everyone grows at a different pace. everyone has their own issues.
brotherhood, held you back in what ways?
gang gang gang is 100% one of those songs that attempts to tackle a social issue but does it on such a surface level that ends up saying literally nothing and asking no questions. just "here's a problem that exists" over a beat. it will be incredibly overrated by airheads that think any mention of a social problem = being conscious and lyrical
i like it regardless

yea it would terse if it was just a statement about not associating with an individual anymore. Acknowledging the past they shared together and giving them some benefit of the doubt and accepting that no one's perfect is a cleaner option.

See I wouldn’t go quite this far with it but there is some ambiguity in what his feelings actually are
My man Jack on ‘Questions’
It can't be shoulda been the last. Or2nd to last track
it's growth. everyone grows at a different pace. everyone has their own issues.
brotherhood, held you back in what ways?
yeah for sure
Brotherhood held me back in ways because I felt like that’s all there was in life. I stuck with the same people and my closest friend had disrespected me for years and found out it was behind my back, it had to deal with women. He didn’t take me serious and thought we’d always be cool
When I stood up for myself he tried to fight me. him and I were always brothers but he felt like he could use me, because I was always there
So I cut off that relationship, and have been better for it
OUR MARCUS?
10 songs on a album, nicely done. More rappers need to do this show they can solidify have a nice discography.
Jack is entering his Max Miller era of a serious artist.
He 100% sounds like his own person on this album . Occasional influence is normal but he’s in his own bag for sure
