literally every other post is asking why lonely at the top is a bonus track
Big up cole for taking all the most boring early 2000s hip hop tropes and putting them all on one very, very long album
literally every other post is asking why lonely at the top is a bonus track
Oh I'm criticising the point of 'bonus tracks' being there at all in the streaming era
But moreso why are they on BOTH sides of a digital album...

Because this is a throwback, nostalgia-driven album and bonus tracks are something old heads look back on fondly. See also: Kanye - 30 Hours

Idk I feel like if that's true it's a bit of a gimmick
heard a bit of the one where hes rapping about wearing hoodies everyday and a fan asks him for a pic omg i hate him
We lost a freshwater pond to this s***.
I see what you are saying but I think J. Cole didn’t just drop music — he exposed the industry’s biggest blind spot. Everyone’s calling it “nostalgia,” but they’re wrong. This isn’t a throwback; it’s a hostile takeover of distribution — no Spotify tax, no algorithmic gatekeepers, no praying to the “New Music Friday” gods. Just one CD, one handshake, one story that’ll live for 20 years.
after 3 or 4 listens
i give it like a 7~7.5
He's not really talking about anything that interesting for most of this
Theres definitely highlights for sure and i love a lot of the production and some of the rapping.
But at the same time I'm like yeah this should be his last. It's time
Not mad at this being his last either, lotta good stuff but some filler and not really groundbreaking at all
I think its just that his personality is so normal that good flows and dope production still doesnt take it to that next level many people are hoping for, but im not hating
Like I said i think sometimes people don't have much more to say, it seems like this is what he had left
In hindsight and unrelated to this album, but when drake was doing his whole "... got you wiped down" thing on push ups, was it more or less of an insult to cole that he didn't include him

No cause he was naming people not in the big three saying they are better than him. Cole already big 3 so no need to mention as it’s not an insult like saying 21 savage is better
