sales? Probably more but its way longer so it'd be weird if it wasnt
Oh yeah I keep forgetting to factor in the double disc but even still....
I didn’t think it was an instant classic when it dropped back when I was in high school, but I remember being majorly impressed with it after how “meh” I found the majority of Born Sinner to be. The production in particular was a massive step up.
I think overtime it’s definitely the closest album he has to the “classic” label. Emphasis on Album because I already know what the deal is when it comes to the mixtapes.
Yeah this pretty much how I feel
Its a solid album that’s stood the test of time since it dropped 12 years ago
But only in the last few years have the conversations about it being classic arisen
This thing about saying it was an “Instant classic” and had some massive impact is straight up revisionist history
4YEO is actual garbage
title track and change are good
never personally got the hype for FHD since it dropped but i was fully a Dot stan back then
Because there was no hype like that when it originally dropped
It was just viewed as another boring Cole album
Yall think this is gonna do over or under GNX first week? Just a general question please don't make this beef related.
It might do over because of physicals

Not true at all lol

people will be like j cole is corny and then be a jane remover fan
not so much on jane remover lol im not a big fan or anything but she they them whatever aint that bad
Kendrick had the best rollout of all time so I'm guessing under. Tracklist longer though
He also didn't have physicals ready
Yeah we know No Role Modelz is a big song in the streaming era but it took off years later because of TikTok and s***, back when it dropped the song was treated like an ok J. Cole song
"As of December 2016, the album has sold 1,240,000 copies in the United States."
because of TikTok and s***
Song was huge before 2020 lol
The album was certified 2x platinum in 2016 and certified platinum in 2015
Not true at all lol
I mean you can believe that man it’s fine. Also how old are you?
I guess it being hailed as a classic now is all that really matters anyway
Yall think this is gonna do over or under GNX first week? Just a general question please don't make this beef related.
More only because he has physical first week, GNX didnt
He also didn't have physicals ready
That's true. Cole has vinyls in route and that little EP gave him an entire mailing list to text the album is out. He's put himself in position to succeed
How is he doing too much? He has too many dumb fans and will have haters who won't understand the concept and jump to conclusions,so he should be explaining everything beforehand
listen i'm not trying to be a hater and i'm very excited to listen to this and i think it'll be good.
but the concept seems to have changed or evolved. originally this was his final album - a single album. right off the bat i dont like this idea because i think musician retirements are dumb and he will DEFINITELY have future albums. but fine - just like Jay did with The Black Album, he can have his stupid promotional gimmick.
but then he switched up and added an entire second disc.
now he's explaining the concept in advance and the concept he described doesnt seem to have anything to do with falling off.
idk, thats why i say he's doing too much. it seems all over the place.
that all being said, my criticisms of his rollout won't matter 3 days from now because i will simply judge the album on its own merit.
the concept he described seems similar to the kendrick song fear where he snapshotted his feelings at age 7, 17 and 27
title track and change are good
haven’t listened in a decade so idk
