I think it’s either what you said, or the mixtape is the first or second disc of the album

If the mixtape was the second disc that would be underwhelming as f***

That wouldn’t be a real double disc in my eyes, just two projects released side by side

Similar to how the last 7 tracks of We Still Don’t Trust You are a mini-mixtape, I could see Cole doing something akin to that

why else would jada know if not for clearing it is my thinking? i mean i guess you could say he just wanted his blessing but idk

  • Because let’s be real, a 90+ minute Cole album did not sound realistic at all lmao

I think the one album and one mixtape theory makes more sense

i would guess dropping it next weds (his bday)

a mixtape of him over other peoples s*** a week before is not that crazy. plenty of artists have done this

Plenty of artists have not done that in this age, but it would be dope

Imagine Cole sends a free mixtape to everyone that ordered a vinyl but it wont be on DSPs

    That would be generational

Nah, I think Cole is too big a student of the game and hip hop to do that

7 extra tracks is just something tacked on the end. A real double disc has the same about to tracks on both discs give or take a track

Cole wannabe in there with biggie, pac, ugk, hov, nas, etc.

A second disc with 7 tracks is some of the moment s***, not timeless s***

It’d make sense if he’s not putting the single on streaming and not even announcing a track title for it. All details locked up until the album drops but y’all can eat with this tape in the meantime

He can still do a double disc and the mixtape. Hear me out.

A double disc album is usually under 90 minutes and 2LP. There’s All Eyez On Me which is a 4LP, but it’s also 2 hours long. I don’t think J. Cole is dropping a two hour album.

The Fall Off is confirmed to be a 4LP vinyl pressing.

It’s entirely possible for the first two discs to be the actual double disc album, and then the last two discs are the mixtape where he’s rapping over other people’s beats.

I don’t think he would do that, it would take away some of the moment from The Fall Off. Every time an artist drops two projects back-to-back in the streaming era, the second one generally performs worse

not if it's just a bunch of spittin over other people's beats. thats the type of stuff you say is dope and then move on because you want album and substance.

Idk dog, I could see Cole dropping a two hour project if he truly believes it’s his last project and magnum opus

Plus idk about reusing other people’s beats on be on your actual album. I know he’s done it before with Deja Vu and what not but still. I think a separate tape is the move. If it’s dedication style with him just barring out then it’ll have a whole different feel than the album like Wayne’s dedication vs Carter 2. I know those weren’t released on top of each other but they’re distinct. I think long term the double album needs to be it’s own thing or ten years from now I’ll have an asterisk next to it
