What I found boring here was that Cole didn’t do anything novel with the concept - it was too literal. When the track started, I thought there’d be some commentary on the changes in his life from fame to coming up to his childhood

While I see ur point about it being literal, I do think he uses his events in his life to paint the picture of the cycle hes referring to with the concept for the Fall Off, the rise and fall of an artist especially as it pertains to his life

The inspiration was rare and in spurts, but when it's there, I'm immersed

Dealing with writer's block as you age as an artist

With each day that passes, I could feel my career comin' first

Putting his career before his family

And though I'm blessed, I see me stressin' from hearin' the chirps
Of naysayers who, only days later, I don't care to convert

Dealing with the criticism that comes with being an artist

My motivation to be greater ends the moment I peer in her purse

Finding the motivation to be an artist seeing first hand his mom addiction

I watch my father walk back in my life and it clears up the hurt

Just a creative way to describe his father leaving and the impact it left on him and his mom
