That’s because his others ARE sonically flat. That’s the problem with Cole’s production. He picks cute soulful samples, but he doesn’t have a producer ear (and that makes sense, it takes a lot of work to get there), so sonically it never actually knocks properly

Hot take: If Fire Squad was on this album it would be the weakest song lyrically

100 Mil.....
I garuntee you my opinion won’t change lol
As I said in another post FHD has some of Cole’s most iconic songs but it’s still a spotty record compared to this.
Hello and GOMD are subpar compared to everything on this project (GOMD has some flashy verses but the beat and hook are awkward asf)
Hello is the only weak song on FHD, and that album is iconic song after iconic song, while also feeling like an album. Not saying this one isn't an album but it don't feel that cohesive.
How is no one talking about how Cole paid homage to Ghost and Monch?

Yeah probably not, which is a shame cause the OG is probably better if we keeping it a stack.

It’s not just you. Most of the major publications hate on Cole and Drake pretty much every album and d***ride Kendrick. Not saying it’s not deserved but certain Cole and Drake projects deserve just as much respect.
