I’m trolling dont @ me
Damn you folded under pressure in 20 secondes what kind of troll is that
I'm judging this exactly for what it is: It's a dope mixtape. Cole set out and accomplished what he intended to do. It's a dope little appetizer to hold us over until the real album comes. Cole didn't take himself too serious and he didn't overthink things. He was just flowing and having fun with it. He sounded hungry on here, it reminded me of his mixtape days.
My top 3 songs are.....
Side note: He should have put "Lion King On Ice" on here. It would've fit perfectly alongside the rest of these other tracks.
yeah first paragraph are my exact feelings on it. problem these days is people get hyper-focused on how artists categorize their projects, especially since Cole has said how long he's been working on some of the joints in the promotion. i'm not gonna say this isn't a "real album" cause that's how he decided to bill it in the end but i think it's clear what he was tryna do with this.
it's a boy and the fall off otw. the final acts
I’m kinda with some ppl in here. It’s good, but what is he really saying?
he just wanted to rap. he just wanted to get away from the concepts and introspection and bar up on niggas. he said it himself

Let go my hand out now
God DAMN this s*** is f***ing trash. J Cole refuses to rap over a good beat. I don't know who's producing garbage audio filth for him but their hands need to be tied together permanently so they never produce again. He just needs to give up and start begging Drake or 40 for beats. It's actually crazy how the second LA Leaker beat he freestyled on is grimier and harder than any beat on this entire album where he attempts to rap hard and grimy!
That's just one of the bad aspects of this top garbage can candidate; the mixing is atrocious. I refuse to believe that he worked for years on this s*** just for it to sound like it was mixed by a mentally challenged blind man.
Cole's rapping is boring as s***. I can't remember a single memorable flow on this entire album. His bars are wack as s*** too. You can tell he was in the studio saying his bars and would glance at his homies like "that s*** was hard right? right?". You can just tell he was trying TOO hard to get those "oh s*** he said that!!!?" bars off. There was no finesse or subtly to it. When Drake says a crazy line he just pushes on to the next one, but Cole's rapping style is a level below. It sounds like he's rapping for our approval and oh he so badly wants it.
It's also very clear that he has nothing of substance to rap about. But that's not a surprise considering how he stays indoors 24/7. Cole was on lockdown before the entire world was. This guy try's so hard to spit with aggressive venom but his words feel weightless. Cole raps like he's actually replying to rappers and beefing with them when we all know that's not true. Drake is the perfect example of a rapper that can spit with arrogant aggression because he's actually a battle rapper. After finishing this album I'm just wondering, "why are you so mad, Cole?", "where is this aggression coming from?". The only thing he's good at is rapping about fake woke, pseudo intellectual bullshit.
Furthermore, Cole FINALLY decides to get some features and plays it safer than a man wearing two condoms by getting Lil Baby and 21 Savage...how surprising....someone he already collabed with and one of the hottest rappers in the game. If it was 2015 he would've got Future, if it was 2017 he would've got Cardi B, it's too predictable. There is literally no creativity, artistic progression, or experimentation in this album. This album is clearly a statement that he realizes the fall off is coming. Like he said, it's either up or down from here on. The last two flops must have woke this nigga up from his own music. Cole is done.
Alphonse Pierre review just dropped
it's crazy cause i thought niggas were tired of "deep" Cole records and just wanted a different energy.
I really tried to love this but I don’t know man. I guess that growth I wanted from Cole artistically is just never going to happen.
Very solid project though.
Cole is what he is at this point but I guess I can’t be mad at that.

Why does RDC start singing last call at the end here
Is he dissing ktt lmfao he goes “I know how y’all be on the internet” and starts signing last call
Anyone think Close sounds old? Its reminiscent of BS era Cole
Close is definitely Born Sinner/2014 FHD era. Someone pointed it out yesterday and his voice does sound a little younger.

Totally agree about the mixing tbh

The flow too...but yea I see it
Totally agree about the mixing tbh
The mixing is nice...idk what y'all listening on
-“Get features!”
-“Drop the “woke” concepts!”
-“Have other producers handle the beats!”
The goalpost will still get moved

Cause the people asking for that stuff didn’t realize that the problem is just Cole himself
“a "brand" placed on him by his fans. Not by Cole. “
Yes exactly. That’s why i said fair or unfair. It’s the same reason why Kendrick has been criticized for not speaking up during the protests last year.
I’m not saying I agree with that criticism or what Cole i being criticized for now but I understand the reason for both.
ight bruh. let's not pretend you haven't been the main one in the past
let it be known that this "criticism" is def unfair and a reach being played on solely because niggas need something to criticize about this specific rapper
like if niggas don't like the album fr then cool. Cole just ain't for them. but at least let it not be a Halo Reach like this one
For sounds much better on my headphones, didn't sound as good through my home theater system
