is tupac a conscious rapper?
Yeah of course
Greatest of all time imo
God DAMN this s*** is f***ing trash. J Cole refuses to rap over a good beat. I don't know who's producing garbage audio filth for him but their hands need to be tied together permanently so they never produce again. He just needs to give up and start begging Drake or 40 for beats. It's actually crazy how the second LA Leaker beat he freestyled on is grimier and harder than any beat on this entire album where he attempts to rap hard and grimy!
That's just one of the bad aspects of this top garbage can candidate; the mixing is atrocious. I refuse to believe that he worked for years on this s*** just for it to sound like it was mixed by a mentally challenged blind man.
Cole's rapping is boring as s***. I can't remember a single memorable flow on this entire album. His bars are wack as s*** too. You can tell he was in the studio saying his bars and would glance at his homies like "that s*** was hard right? right?". You can just tell he was trying TOO hard to get those "oh s*** he said that!!!?" bars off. There was no finesse or subtly to it. When Drake says a crazy line he just pushes on to the next one, but Cole's rapping style is a level below. It sounds like he's rapping for our approval and oh he so badly wants it.
It's also very clear that he has nothing of substance to rap about. But that's not a surprise considering how he stays indoors 24/7. Cole was on lockdown before the entire world was. This guy try's so hard to spit with aggressive venom but his words feel weightless. Cole raps like he's actually replying to rappers and beefing with them when we all know that's not true. Drake is the perfect example of a rapper that can spit with arrogant aggression because he's actually a battle rapper. After finishing this album I'm just wondering, "why are you so mad, Cole?", "where is this aggression coming from?". The only thing he's good at is rapping about fake woke, pseudo intellectual bullshit.
Furthermore, Cole FINALLY decides to get some features and plays it safer than a man wearing two condoms by getting Lil Baby and 21 Savage...how surprising....someone he already collabed with and one of the hottest rappers in the game. If it was 2015 he would've got Future, if it was 2017 he would've got Cardi B, it's too predictable. There is literally no creativity, artistic progression, or experimentation in this album. This album is clearly a statement that he realizes the fall off is coming. Like he said, it's either up or down from here on. The last two flops must have woke this nigga up from his own music. Cole is done.

You have SOME points but most of this is bs
great flows
great lyricism and wordplay
great production – especially love the fact that it sounds modern yet soulful and lush
every feature showed out
perfect length
it’s really an amazing album . like this is exactly what I look for in an album from one of my favorite artists .
one thing about cole his pen is never lacking. say what they want about the music but he be rappin' good
there's a few beats i really like on here. 1da and Dahi/Dukes etc. did their thing specifically
gotta love a tight, concise project that you don't hesitate to throw on due to length
I’ll save you a few songs off this
Favs so far are:
Pride is the devil
Amari
Let Go My Hand
Applying Pressure
This still not better than FHD
great flows
great lyricism and wordplay
great production – especially love the fact that it sounds modern yet soulful and lush

Damn this your best post

The second LA Leaker beat
I hear what ur saying but you gotta understand apart of coles brand whether fair or unfair is that he’s just a regular, humble dude that raps.
Niggas like Kanye (I am a god) Drake (6 god), and Jay (billionaire) are telling you they aren’t regular so they’re not gonna get the same criticism for that type of bar as Cole
Now that I think about it literally all three of them niggas have called themselves god at some point
a "brand" placed on him by his fans. Not by Cole. by all means criticize his stans for saying s*** like that but to try and use that to talk about a bar makes no sense
and this is also a reach because Hollywood Cole has been a thing since FHD and probably longer. They just don't get the same criticism because they aren't Cole and you should admit that
I'm judging this exactly for what it is: It's a dope mixtape. Cole set out and accomplished what he intended to do. It's a dope little appetizer to hold us over until the real album comes. Cole didn't take himself too serious and he didn't overthink things. He was just flowing and having fun with it. He sounded hungry on here, it reminded me of his mixtape days.
My top 3 songs are.....
Side note: He should have put "Lion King On Ice" on here. It would've fit perfectly alongside the rest of these other tracks.
If you don’t like this album you don’t like J Cole no cap it feels like a mix of all his albums in my opinion
Big mid
comparing it to Cole's previous projects, or albums that have come out recently? what you bumpin these days i feel like rap been even more dry than usual but maybe i'm not tapped
Only thing this album is missing is a catchy ass song w Miguel
Wow this album's mixing is super good, aside from the occasional loud vocals it sounds pleasant though my headphones
Imagine having that kind of hate in your heart first thing in the morning
Y’all need Jesus

Yes exactly. That’s why i said fair or unfair. It’s the same reason why Kendrick has been criticized for not speaking up during the protests last year.
I’m not saying I agree with that criticism or what Cole i being criticized for now but I understand the reason for both.
