"Y'all sound soft" is a bad argument when it's like, we weren't old enough to speak on it ourselves...the game wasn't for kids (rated M)

There's more evidence that gambling has more of an impact on children than violence in video games, but hell to me it's not about the kids. It's about the societal decline that comes with rampant gambling and drawing a line in the sand about this issue.

We the adults now. We had no choice when it comes to violence/drug abuse promoted in music growing up (which again, unless there's a conspiracy by big pharma, they're not getting money from institutions to inherently promote their product, which is the biggest difference), but we have a choice now to say, you know what, f*** that we not putting up with it. And if you don't f*** with gambling, you would understand those points, no?

Blame the parents not the artist

    next

Hot take but (as an adult) if you’re so easily influenced by stuff like this maybe it’s just natural selection

The amount rappers promote d*** use and violence in their music is fine. Where we draw the line is sports betting.

No one "promotes" d*** use and violence in their music. This is some s*** you hear racist people say when talking about hip hop

There is a clear difference in what artists rap about in their music and what stake is doing

I only listen to about five active rappers and Drake is one of them, not going to be able to do it.

The rest of these niggas is trash.

It's not comparable in any case because a corporation isn't giving rappers money to buy d**** and kill people on stream.

Stake literally gives Drake money to gamble and show off how fun it is to children so they have customers in the future.

  • yall never gonna finish drake but it's time to boycott you (put you on ignore) for sure

Lots of rappers have come out and said they only talk about violence and d**** in their raps because it gets them paid. Future claims to not even do d****. He just makes it look cool to children so he can collect a check

I don't think anyone is arguing that d**** and violence aren't topics of interest to kids. It's just crazy that a socially acceptable system of exchange exists where you can gamble, with no risk to yourself, in front of kids and get paid for it.

The rage machine has become a whole content industry. Feeding the masses with the same negative points to an audience who hates the subject so much that it ends up being the content they watch the most.

This grift doesn't just happen on forums anymore, it's grown to social media and especially youtube.

I posted it on the "drake vs kendrick II" thread but the real reason to boycott drake is his detrimental affect on hip hop and the culture as a whole.

Posted this in another thread and got a handful of likes and some disagreement but I feel 100% certain on this and we can agree to disagree--only time will tell

No, enough is enough. Time to take a stand before it's too late. Drake needs to go away for the good of the genre. Look at all these drake stans crying about the beef months/years later for the second time lol look at all the drake media groupies saying "hip hop is over" and fans agreeing. Look at a fkn streaming event with some loser white guy being compared to the Pop Out show Look at Drake saying "always rapping like you tryna to get the slaves free" and that somehow becoming the go to jab for ANY non party/trap rap now. Em introduced stan and renegade, Nas introduced Ether---Drake introduced "slave music" S*** is so damaging to rap culture and y'all just kikiki it up.

I don't recall any rap fan base--be it Ye stans or Jay stans or even Wayne or Em stans--being a huge numbers/charts stan base until a certain stan base started really going hard for numbers around 2016. Now I'm seeing "men can't relate to Kendrick like they can to Drake" tweets blowing up now The feminine energy he and his fan base brings to the game is the reason the game is the way it is right now. Not to mention most of his music ages like milk. Can hate the message and the messenger all you want--in 10 years you will look back and realize the destruction this era caused

Brother you may be an idiot. "Drake introduced 'slave music'" and crying about "feminine energy" might be the dumbest things I've ever read and I'm pissed you made me process that information at 8AM before I even had the chance to have a nice day.

i dont want to call you stupid because i have empathy but you really dont understand the "rap like you want to free the slaves" line at all. The whole point about it is that kendrick is not like that in real life and his rap is theatrics. He explicitly explains this in the line after.
