Necessary viewing, the UK's Channel 4 aired a documentary on Israel's routine murder of healthcare workers in direct violation of international law, incredibly courageous action in the face of the current government

    Why does the Quran state

    Surah An-Nisa (4:59)
“O you who have believed, obey Allah and obey the Messenger and those in authority among you…”

    Surah Al-Ahzab (33:21)
“Indeed, in the Messenger of Allah (Muhammad) you have a good example to follow for him who hopes for (the Meeting with) Allah and the Last Day…”

    Surah Al-Hashr (59:7)
”…And whatever the Messenger has given you – take; and what he has forbidden you – refrain from…”

    4:59

“Obey Allah and obey the Messenger and those in authority among you”. The Messenger is to be obeyed in his role as conveying the Qur’an. The Quran never commands obedience to a different source to do that. It always links obeying the Messenger to following the revelation given to him (4:80: “Whoever obeys the Messenger has obeyed Allah…”)

    33:21

Yes, the Prophet Muhammad is the best example as portrayed by the Qur’an The example to follow is what the Qur’an shows of his life, not what is found in contradictory or human authored Hadith texts compiled 200+ years later after his death.

To follow the Prophet is to follow the Qur’anic principles he lived by justice, mercy, honesty, patience all of which are in the Qur’an, without needing external collections. His character is described in Verses like 68:4

    59:7

    Full verse:

As for gains granted by Allah to His Messenger from the people of ˹other˺ lands, they are for Allah and the Messenger, his close relatives, orphans, the poor, and ˹needy˺ travellers so that wealth may not merely circulate among your rich. Whatever the Messenger gives you, take it. And whatever he forbids you from, leave it. And fear Allah. Surely Allah is severe in punishment.

59:7 discusses the distribution of spoils of war and emphasizes that such wealth should not be concentrated among the rich. It clarifies that these spoils belong to Allah, His Messenger (Muhammad), his close relatives, orphans, the needy, and travelers, ensuring it benefits a wider range of people and doesn't solely circulate among the wealthy.

The phrase “what the Messenger gives you…” refers to the Prophet’s allocation of these resources, not religious legislation. This is a situational command to accept the Prophet’s decision in distributing public wealth, not a blanket endorsement of Hadith literature.

Also the Hadith was not written by the Prophet himself. He also didn‘t authorize or compile any of these books. So even if you interpret the verse in a different way you would still have a hard time legitimising Hadith with that imo.

    Again

Quran 6:38 We did not leave anything out of this book.

Quran 6:114 ˹Say, O Prophet,˺ “Should I seek a judge other than Allah while He is the One Who has revealed for you the Book ˹with the truth˺ perfectly explained?” Those who were given the Scripture know that it has been revealed ˹to you˺ from your Lord in truth. So do not be one of those who doubt.

Quran 6:115 The word of your Lord is complete, in truth and justice. Nothing shall abrogate His words. He is the Hearer, the Omniscient.

We can start reading and studying the Quran together in the Islam Thread in September once I‘m back. I think we all could offer multiple perspectives ( Sunni, Shiite, Sufi or Quranist) on certain topics in case of any differences cause there will be some fs, so it is a comfortable space for everyone. Ofc when we don’t understand something and there is nothing is wrong with being confused sometimes we can ask teachers or look up perspectives of Imams. Which is normal. Could be a healthy community.

See brother even the Quran says the close relatives of the prophet deserve the spoils of war.
Yet the so called Sunni caliphs of Islam gave Ali Hasan and Hussain zilch and confiscated Fatima’s Fadak land (an oasis near Medina) after the prophet’s death.
