It’s possible to make the right decisions and have it spiral considering how many individuals are carrying out those orders and how much nuance there is in enactment and reaction. I think comparing internal conflict to Israeli occupation is genuinely insane. There’s a difference between internal struggle between secularism and fundamentalism and settler imperialism. I don’t even just mean this in an ethnic blood & soil way. While sure I agree there’s “legitimate grievances” in not just Syria but the entire Middle East along more or less ethnic lines, I don’t think conflating that with every single political point is history is always necessary
