This a subtle expression of what im talking about btw^
There is no male artist that I’ve seen anyone discredit their accomplishments due to painting them as just being subservient talentless hacks handed their career by men at a label, who frequently tackles boom bap beats with so much effort in their raps they have entire 2 hour interviews to describe their process and lyrics that are dismissed like this off no good basis. At such a mass scale. They will grasp at any good reason to and the one re release is what provides that
meanwhile mans gas big Sean and s***
Sean don solidified in his spot
I mean idk how else to, doechii’s rise was mainly women and LGBT audiences loving her and they f***ing adore her yet straight men on this site say they don’t know anyone who listens to her and she was done by bots because they dint interact with those people but I saw it clearly
Nicki minaj clearly is of a different level of legend status to women and queer people for a long time, etc etc
Sexxy red and glorilla are beloved for not only making fun music but music for people to feel themselves to. Meg is considered a great rapper and commercial titan.
The straight audience rarely sees the substance or appeal in these artists and doesn’t even see their rise the same way nor their accomplishments. In discussions they are often dismissed off trivial basis, painted as meaningless bullshit with w****s showing they p**** as a sign of society degradation, and just not put in the same conversations. Megan has good rap skill undeniably aside from her subject matter not being crazy. But, these are to an extent considered “seperate” sections to the main hip hop canon to a lot of people. It’s “oh yeah the girls”
Sexxy a top tier comedian tbh
He’s a fan of slam metal which has bled to his aesthetic influence (though neutered by the label, he wanted the cover of a great chaos to be a Gordy slam metal esque cover and it inspired the pace and ethos of it and more chaos) and the clear sonic intention of the dark noisy chaos series
dont listen to him or know what slam metal is but interesting

Yeah he’s also always caught wearing band merch for slam metal bands like Esophogaus.
Well I mean she is queer and very outwardly so, so im not surprised. However, ice spice, Doja cat, lizzo, Nicki, and chapell all guested too no?
I’m just saying the reason she has her audience and has it composed as such is because she was marketed pretty heavily towards a certain audience successfully. The reason she has that fanbase isn’t innately just because her music attracted it. That by itself is fine and to be expected but the music she’s making isn’t congruent with expectations outside her audience. No one is mass-critiquing someone like Leikeli47 for making music but if she was being pushed with the level of critical acclaim doechii was people would for sure.
Why tho ? Especially in the context I brought up the electronic music scene (pink pantheress aside)
Because I have a thread on the electronic aoty and it has 2 replies. The public does not listen to the genre like that.
The electronic music scene is the most welcoming of any.
People talk about how Beyoncé’s renaissance was “reclaiming” electronic music for black Americans but no one ever really talked about why that had to happen. It’s not the same story as with country and rock. And I don’t think people really want to have that discussion on here.

What your saying I totally get, however I mean doechii has always been queer tho and her music not only matches such but so does her presentation. She likes and since before persuasive has been a fan of oddball aesthetics, colourful c***y videos, eclectic music choices that r a mix of agressive dancey and melodic, she can sing well, she’s clearly Nicki inspired and has always talked about Nicki and beefed with iggy Azaelia. Uses the same lingo, etc. like she just naturally landed with that audience and has herself also been an advocate for LGBT rights very vocally forever. I wouldn’t attribute it to her marketing she just authentically is tied to it and appeals to it before the marketing even comes in the picture.
S*** based on her placements and label moves actually it seemed more like TDE was putting her in the TDE artsy hip hop artist lane with crossover appeal with people like Isaiah, smino, sza, JT, dissect podcast, sleepy hallow, breakfast club etc. I don’t think her Grammies speech about trans people was made by her marketing team

Yeah but you're talking about it from a general public point of view. The context of my post and this thread has to do with the dynamics within the particular genres/scenes, regarding how artists are treated by fans, peers and their available opportunities.
Yes the electronic music scene is very welcoming that doesnt mean it's without its own issues. Same goes with hip hop. The Renaissance reference highlights my point that the electronic music scene has been appropriated to the point where things like misogynoir becomes possible even in a genre that's so welcoming. Many artists in that scene have said as much.
My overall point and why it was brought up, has to do with when comparing other genres to hip-hop, the misogyny might not be the same but it can still manifest itself in other forms
Crying about misogyny in hip hop
what are the poor women going to do about the hurtful lyrics in hip hop songs
Wait til they find out the women love it more than the men

Careful now, you’re giving out the recipes
