meh i guesss idk about photography maybe i should be on bro’s side since jay a millionaire
Billionaire lol
Besides his rapping skills you could argue that these iconic images are what helped launched his career. Back then people bought albums off of album art and the aesthetic without knowing what someone sounds like.

yes
Jay Z has a case if he owns the image rights.
However, I doubt back in 1996 he had any idea on how important it is to own these images. Plus he had no idea how big he would be. If I'm not mistaking Jay Z didn't own the reasonable doubt matters until recently after purchasing them.
This is a common fight between photographers and a subject. The photographer has barely any rights unless their contract states they can reuse the images.
However, sometimes the photographer is protected if the contract clearly states they own the images not selected by the client.
Nah the photo in question is from August 1998, Jay already had a #3 debut with IML Vol. 1 at that point, he was definitely an established artist

Talking out of your ass
Mannion has ownership over his art
Just like all the other photographs in his catalogue
I’m on Hov’s side. You not about to be selling images of me, or my likeness now that I’m famous and successful without giving me my cut at least.
Secondly he could be putting be packaging those pictures of Hov in ways he doesn’t like, or agree with.
then Jay should have played the game he claims to know so well and got that s*** in writing.
S*** I just realised Jay-Z haven't used his face on album covers since '07
wrong
this was 2017
You so sure of yourself we’ll see how the court rules
It does state that Hov has “strict control over whether and how his name, likeness, identity and persona are used,” so we’ll see
Y’all just don’t know how s*** works and it’s easier to say that. First amendment protects all photographers because they took the pic. The only way the person who the pic is of has rights to the pic can own that pic is by buying that pic. It’s law.
How does he own the rights? He was paid to take the photos not the other way around.
If he had paid Jay to model in the pics it’d be different
Copyright belongs to the creator of the artwork.
Hope you're not serious bro.
the question is are you serious? this is the cover bro.
He threw in Black teenager. He was 26. B**** ass.
Let that man get a bag. Hov always been weird about Reasonable Doubt.
F*** that, I paid a photographer to take pics of me he doesn’t get to turn around and sell them for profit
You were paid for a job I wasn’t hired to model
EDIT: this is my opinion not my ruling so you guys can stop quoting me with legal advice lol
You’re putting on a fake ignorant act to look cool. Lame
This, the photographer is far from an innocent
He's selling pictures he took for a price he set? What is exactly wrong here
