Why can we not acknowledge Islamic art in previous eras? The depiction of Prophet Muhammad hasn't always been historically or regionally consistent, so when we're talking about a class that encompasses all Islamic art, it's pretty obvious that his personage is going to appear in one form or another, whether it's Mughal or Persian or generally Ottoman art.
