you see i don’t get these calls of avoiding consumerism, especially when Ye is claiming he has a divine right to charge overpriced fees for his products on On God, if anything he’s revelling in it
I might be reaching but I think there might be purpose behind making those the last lines on On God being followed by Everything We Need and Water which recognise the lack of Importance in superficial things
He should've just released Ghost Town, I Thought About Killing You and Violent Crimes (great songs) as throwaways and called it a day.
He could have just put Ghost Town and Violent Crimes on KSG tbh. I Thought About Killing You could have been amazing but he does kind of lose it towards the end imo. That production tho
The thing that made the 2018 cycle worth it for me was his Daytona beats without those I was starting to think he should have just stayed out of public life and then made a big comeback in 10 years or something like Bowie did in 2013
Now we got JiK tho and we're back
shouldnt have scrapped og ye.. and release some half ass s*** he made in 2 weeks
Sometimes I think we over-exaggerate how different the albums would have been but with Ye, I remember Charlamagne saying before the Trump s*** all came out that Kanye was making a socially-conscious album.
I don't wanna be cynical, but it's like he thought he wanted to make a political album because that's what was a big talking point at the time, and then decided the Trump support was even more hot
I can't remember who but I'm pretty sure someone close to Kanye said that he backed Trump because he thought it would make him more remembered in years to come
crazy how the album had such an impact on me for the first month or so but now its easily his worst solo project and i never return to any songs
Are there people who actually listen to the current updated version of ITAKY?
Couldn’t be me. What a sad life.
Wouldn’t leave was one of my favorite songs of 2018
Top 3 on the album for me too

i think you’re giving him too much credit.
and besides if that even was the case, wouldnt his continuance to charge these prices undermine the message from those two songs?

I can say I'm overweight and I need to lose weight and then continue to put on weight
Kanye's built on positive affirmations whether or not he actually goes through with them is a different story lmao
Wouldn't say ye is a mistake but this album feels as a whole empty and not ready. I like the songs though but KSG and Daytona feels complete and round compared to ye.
I would be interested in how Love Everyone would have sounded. Probably much better.

yup empty is the best word to describe it
only Kanye album with absolutely no vision, just a collection of songs that sound good
