Ye was some mid compared to Daytona and KSG. It's alright but it tarnishes his discography in some ways. I mean come on, compare this thing to the rest of his discog, idk
He shouldn't have dropped it as an album, that's all
Og ye/love everyone wouldve been so beautiful
Listen to „everything“ from the nas album to get an indication what kanye was on
Lmao
He should've just released Ghost Town, I Thought About Killing You and Violent Crimes (great songs) as throwaways and called it a day.
we could have Love Everyone and Yandhi rn but we got ye and JIK instead. this how i know the devil real.
I like Ye a lot. It gave us Ghost Town which I’ll be forever grateful for and other very good songs.
I don’t like thinking about Ye in a silo, it was a part of the Wyoming Project that collectively produced so much good music. I don’t think it’s ever been fully appreciated what Kanye created for himself, Push, TT, Nas and Cudi.
Whats flawed about it to you?
I think it's the most underrated Ye album sonically cause these tracks sound incredible, I think Wouldn't Leave and Violent Crimes are the prettiest ye beats ever, No Mistakes and Ghost Town classic Ye, the use of vocals on ITAKY, Yikes and All Mine is brilliant too
It's the realest Ye's ever been lyrically, no sugar coating s*** and I really appreciated that
I think the perception of ye changed (unfairly) when he outed Pardi as his ghostwriter on VC
2nd beat on ITAKY doesn't hit as hard as it should. S*** sounds awkward.
Yikes just recycles Wolves hook (same melody, just different words). The fact that Drake of all people was credited on it during their feud didn't help.
All Mine is catchy but that aside completely forgettable, it's one of those nasty Ye s***songs that I don't care for. Ant Clemons sounds goofy af on the hook, Ye should've let Jeremih or Thugger perform it instead.
Wouldn't Leave is actually underrated. No complaints about this song.
No Mistakes hook is about staying with his girl and then the verse is completely off topic, also there's only 1 verse bc of how rushed this song was.
Cudi's singing on Ghost Town is difficult on the ears, should've made him re-record.
At last, a few lines on Violent Crimes can be perceived as weird which Ye himself felt uncomfortable about and sort of disowned.
This project suffers from demoitis and even with some improvements, would've made more sense as an EP if he really HAD TO release it.
as far as naming it a solo album def a mistake
but as far as getting his emotions out there i think it was needed for him to adress that s***.
nah, as a whole it was better than JIK
How many times have you heard JIK? On my first listen I thought so as well but then I spinned it a few more times and realized that it's clearly better.

Pre-update ITAKY is definitely harder
I dont think All Mine is that nasty besides the second verse, verse 1 is heat
I think No Mistakes is a bit of a mess thematically but it sounds great regardless
I don't think Ye really disowned Violent Crimes lyrics, they were his honest feelings post-Hospitalisation and I think they're a true reflection of the dark and twisted fears he had
Not really demoitis cause we never heard a demo of it, when Pusha said Teyana had demoitis he meant cause Teyana left Kanye in Wyoming to let him work on the album for weeks without really being involved in what was the final product

Personally when I say demoitis I mean that the album sounds rushed and unfinished, bc of the issues I mentioned. I see what you're saying about Violent Crimes tho.

Yeah I saw that its just she literally had demoitis cause she grew so accustomed to the songs from months before they were released like people that listen to leaks lmao

like 3/4 times
i think its mad how even tho JIK has a more defined subject matter than Ye that it feels so sparse and lacking direction
at least on Ye we got a proper opener (in my opinion one of Ye’s best ever songs opener or otherwise, pre-sample removal) which really gave you a snapshot of where his head is at that you just dont get on JIK
on JIK we get a truncated snippet which bookends the album with another one, for me really summing up how rushed and unfulfilling this project is
and if anyone wants to say the album is about his faith and not himself, that’s fine. but he doesn’t even manage to do that in a satisfying way, letting his ego and hollow bars get in the way of what the album is supposedly about. at least Ye was unashamedly a personal album, JIK cant decide what it is.

It does suck that some songs on KTSE just reuse the 1st verse as the 2nd verse with no change on some copypaste s***, that s*** actually pissed me off upon repeated listens.
Are you Ron James btw?
No sir, never had an account on KTT1 due to registration issues. I was, sadly, lurking for 7 years

Welcome to the world of the living, my friend
I'm not super hot on Ye or JIK (I think jik more though) I feel like if Kanye took these two albums, fleshed out the songs more it would be a great album.

Idk bro, to me JIK is a very peaceful record for the most part that invites the listener to self reflect. It's about a man who finally finds redemption after years of battling addiction, loss, mental illness and at last, suicidal thoughts.
It's a call to separate yourself from modern society and peer pressure which instill ideas like consumerism and popularity contests and go back to the old ways of family values and tradition, as well as sustainability, in that way it encourages mindfulness even more than ye imo.

Oh wow that's tough. Welcome to the boards! I just thought you could be my mate Ron James bc of the avy haha.

I actually think ye achieves self-reflection a lot better than JIK and recognises that there are a lot of problems in his own life, but JIK is the logical next step Kanye's taken to become a better person
Every song on ye recognises Kanye's faults and most of the tracks on here are about redeeming faults and becoming a better more pure person

you see i don’t get these calls of avoiding consumerism, especially when Ye is claiming he has a divine right to charge overpriced fees for his products on On God, if anything he’s revelling in it
