youre wrong
Different strokes for… you know the rest
I already listened to it for my 2010 list, imo it's pretty bad with a couple of good songs. But couldn't enjoy it despite liking emo rap. Anybody saying it influenced rappers like Uzi or whatever, it's just aesthetically bc musically it's ass.
Rebirth literally has 0 influence thats one of the dumbest myths ever
Nobody was at home listening to rebirth wanting to do that and actually carrying it over 7 years later to 2016 lmao

"I might get a stupid f***ing cut like will.i.am" -TyFaizon
So this is kind of cheating since this album is not exactly hip hop but more like dance pop, or "hip house". This symbolized the end of an era: Black Eyed Peas, LMFAO, Flo Rida, Pitbull, Far East Movement etc. All of which made big power EDM anthems for clubs, with rapping! Some of them are still active but you can't argue the dominance of this genre faded a little before this will.i.am album dropped (2013).
Maybe that's why this album was so panned when it came out. I was a kid when BEP was at their mainstream peak and I really liked listening to them. This is a weaker version of that bc will.i.am as a solo artist isn't very strong and needs the balance of the other members. This is why most songs in here include a singing feature.
The songs that have a will.i.am rapping verse, show how little effort he puts into writing, if any. Most basic, dumbed down lyrics ever about partying and having a good time. Still, can't be too mad about this album when it's made exactly for this purpose -- being played at a party. So at its best, it has fun party songs. At its worst, it's terrible corny "inspirational" songs or braggy rap songs. Very much a sound of that era that was trendy and didn't age well.
I will also add that compared to some of the artists I mentioned will.i.am lacks personality and as a result this album just sounds commercialized with no heart or passion behind it. Also really dips by the end. Or I just got tired of it by that point.
Save just the singles from this. Also idk what happened to his hair.
Best: #thatPOWER, This Is Love, Scream & Shout, Feelin' Myself.
Worst: The World Is Crazy, Far Away From Home, Ghetto Ghetto, Smile Mona Lisa.

you gotta peep that mgk trippie reds collab ep
You listened to it?
It’s really Hopsin day today I promise
Why are you doing this to yourself there's so much good music you haven't heard before

This is the first Hopsin album I'm listening to and so far I only knew Ill Mind 5, Sag My Pands and the dirty massage song. I fully expected this to either be awful or fun bad, but it's somewhere in the middle. I also think this has a couple of good moments / songs. Hopsin has rapping ability, and I have to respect him for gaining a fanbase independently, building a team of rapper and bigging them up in this album.
However much like other rappers I've reviewed he just has the corniest idea of how a rap song should sound like. It's very Eminem inspired because we either have funny/edgy songs like early Eminem or down to earth emotional songs (with poppy hooks). Or songs where's he's just showing his rap abilities.
The best of the worst in this album are the "inspirational" mindful songs. These are hilariously bad, dramatic and follow very dumb ideas (or badly executed / phrased). So I would really like the entire album to be like that. But really, it's either hit or miss bc there are moments that are bad but not funny, or moments that are good to the point it made me think Hopsin has a good album in him (mostly the emotional storytelling songs, but also some of his verses in the "hard rapping" songs).
Overall I think this is an unfocused, amatuerish album considering Hopsin was 5-6 years in the game at that point. But has sparks of potential.
Best: Ill Mind of Hopsin 7 (funniest song), No Hope, The Pound.
Worst: Fly, Crown Me, Ramona, My Love.
