It's stupid not to listen to Graduation now matter how you put it
would tell u to listen to lcd soundsystem but youll probably give it a 5
Can't give that to an album with Dance Yrself Clean. We'll see
Crazy, I been playing the hell out of Treats and specifically Rill Rill recently. CoT is one of my favorite underrated projects from the whole decade too
Day 18: Sleigh Bells - Treats
Wow this is heat, never heard of them before this thread. It's cool really loud and distorted and noisy and it's kind of a mess but also sounds really consistent. All the songs hit, the highlights being Kids, Infinity Guitars, Run The Heart, Rill Rill, and Treats (best song). But really all of it is strong. Like the rock and pop elements. Like that the album sounds as bratty and quirky as the cover looks.
It's like proto bubblegum bass and proto hyper pop but with more industrial and alternative rock inspirations. Aged pretty well imo because this would still sound unique today. If you want something high energy and weird this gets the job done. Really over the top with a lot of crazy things going on, entertaining 30 minutes front to back. But might ruin your speakers from all the bass and distortion lol.

now this is what i’m talkin bout
glad u enjoyed it
Lol I think c robin sampled from here
Can’t find it anywhere but I think he did in Punta Cana
Day 18: Toro y Moi - Causers of This
This album is cool it's a nice humble bedroom album from Toro y moi before he really went left. On the first listen I was like ok it's just chill music of that time and it does have dated things in it like all the fade ins and fade outs and over the top reverb. But it's really charming actually and is just a nice vibe.
I do have a thing with lofi producers and the thing with Toro is he sings (which is why Fax Shadow, Low Shoulders and Causers of This are such highlights) and his style sounds a little 80s pop inspired sometimes and synthpop inspired so it's not like most "brainfeeder" type producers.
Anyway I can see myself going back to this a lot, nice production, it transitions well between songs, has that indie feeling and warmth.

Yoooooooooooooooooooooooo taking me back with this one
Day 19: Waka Flocka Flame - Flockaveli
POW POW POW POW b**** I'm bustin at em
The positives: it goes hard, it's ignorant, a lot of energy, it's fun, a lot of catchy hooks and adlibs. It helped popularize trap music, the Lex Luger production influenced trap production from then on. There's also something about these beats being loud and extra with all those horns and snares. Makes you miss that time a little.
The negatives: It's long and drags a little, the weedcarriers that are on half the songs are ass (but real Makaveli vibes from this one and real for putting them on), it's a little repetitive and dated today but some of it is because trap took a lot from it.
It's a little like what 80's rap is for 90's rap, that's what this album is for modern day trap. It set the standard and what it's supposed to be all about and I think that's cool.
Favorite songs are Bustin at Em, Hard In The Paint, No Hands (classic!!!), Bricksquad, O Let's Do It, For My Dawgs, F*** This Industry.
Real trap s***...
