1. Absolutely nobody is saying Tyler tried to hide/be dishonest about anything. Him publicly providing the sampling credits doesn't address what anyone here is saying

2. We all know what sampling is. Power samples 21st century schizoid man - if you don't see the difference between something like this and Are We Still Friends/Dreams or Puppet/It's alright with me, then you just won't understand what is being said here

even with this consideration,
-the music is really f***ing good regardless
-he remains one of the only all around talents in hip hop
-he has proven that he is more than capable of providing original compositions (see his LV show composition)
-part of the draw of IGOR is taking it like the main character listening to the samples and drawing his own thoughts from them

AWSF is a new idea built upon an existing one, its not that he was trying to make it sound similar to the original, its that it straight up uses the original.

That Weeknd album has its inspirations and tries to capture the feeling that they give off, while still making it original enough to be new. Similar end points but with different methods that are mostly incomparable
