YouTube essayist rebrands rap forms that have existed for decades

Yeah rap has always largely been bragging and saying fly s*** for 2-5 minutes (Dom Kennedy was the first nigga who made me think of this lol) but i think the difference is these dudes spamming these crazy ass lines over and over lol its rare they do anything else

I think it comes from that post 2015 or so punch in style and whether or not you take a second to think of what you saying next (the rylos, veezes, fox bd’s) or just letting s*** rhyme no matter if it really is a spectacular line or not (future)

  • hayabusa

fox bd has like one thread on here and barely anyone talks about moneybagg yo here what are u talking about

mainly referring to rylo and veeze

  • raps

Wym lol he may be the king of this style

For what its worth while i definitely feel Jay Em Drake etc type pens are more elite

It takes some type of skill/access to your flow state to constantly be able to come up with these lines consistently across hundreds of thousands of songs without completely repeating yourself even if the topics are the same

Also may be the hold up on new Veeze music lol especially after all those leaks

seems disrespectful branding him as that i would say that applies to drake more with how simple he makes his writing these days

lol I mean that goes without saying but Wayne never influenced IG, Drake did with IYRTITL - scorpion and we were all there for “Drake lyrics you can use as a caption” era and the jokes about Drake dropping more captions for niggas

    #YOLO

Wayne and Fab were the facebook status rappers before Drake was the IG caption rapper

veeze got no reason being in this

i’m a big fan of veeze but he’s acc the poster boy

he can just dump a bunch of witty punchlines but i’ve never heard him connect punchlines a, b and c with each other. they just completely diff punchlines ab the same subjects

idk ig caption rappers sounds like some s*** for birds b****es and bird niggas and i dont really align that with veeze but drake

that all of my opps are dead sounds like some s*** an amazon nigga would say about his coworkers after clocking out a 12 hr shift (no disrespect to amazon workers)

Guys acting like people stopped quoting rappers because they use a different platform

  • insertcoolnamehere

Think part of it is Hov even in his bragging s*** is tryna get something across (whether to the listener or to the umpteenth person he’s subbing) so there is like…some purpose or some s***.

Other rappers you can tell just get off punchline after punchline EVEN IF SAID PUNCHLINES ARE VERY GOOD and every now and then it just…gets boring.

I think back to that one Lil B quote from 9th wonder song about “typical rappers”

    What’s the quote

  • insertcoolnamehere

they're literally the same ting lmaoooo

I don’t think most people made that connection until they started marketing Meta or until they added messenger to IG

IG always operated as its own thing for just pictures then eventually memes, not status updates lmao

  • Everytime The Boy drops the streets get new IG captions
