nah, I’m saying when traveling, in case of debit card fraud, it’s easier to go with a credit card to avoid a bigger headache then have cash on hand just in case certain places don’t accept or the debit card linked to apple pay
with the debit card, if he does lose let’s say $500, the bank isn’t going to deposit $500 into his account until after they finish an investigation
with a credit card, they’ll just put $500 back on his credit as they proceed with the investigation
sure, but i'd say bring both. i wouldnt keep more than $100 on an atm linked card, and if he needs more cash just keep topping it up with your internet banking
if the ATM fees weren't so bad for credit cards, i'd say leave the debit at home
germany hates cards, some places won't accept em even if you're paying for something over 30 euros. cash is necessary in certain places. france is fine in the larger cities, but small businesses might want purchases under 12 eur in cash, same goes for smaller towns/cities there
@tunemoon @RedEyeJedi do you think those are good places as to go as a black man? Trying not to get too culture shocked (eyes staring at me or blatant discrimination) for my first time leaving
You'll be good in Japan, no crazy staring from my experience (I'm black too, so I'm always on the lookout for stuff like that before traveling)

idk from my experience, Apple Pay credit card and physical card with already converted cash of where I’m going has gotten me thru pretty much anywhere
quitting your job to go be a backpack bum in another country
man stay your ass at home

This is a good recommendation @op
I went summer 2019 after a life threatening experience because I needed to do something but didn't have much money
Borrowed a tent and rain jacket from some people I met through an outdoors club, packed a bunch of crackers and cranberries (all I really ate for the first three days) and went with no plan
Hitchhiked for two weeks around the country and absolutely loved it
Woke up in a new world daily and met so many different kinds of people
Went dumpster diving with this French dude I travelled with four days, the person that drove me to the capital when I was finishing my trip took me to his house to have dinner with his wife, Spanish couple that was working at a hotel I couldn't afford took me into their room behind the hostel and gave me their bed after dude saw that my tent was f***ed up (it's very easy to camp in Iceland so I did this as much as I could to save money) and we had breakfast the next day
Appreciate this man. Will look into Iceland then

op imma be real tho ur not getting "lost in nature" in europe unless ur in scandinavia or iceland or very select areas of the balkans. one of the most highly developed areas in the world
go hike the PCT or JMT or the AMT in the US if you want a temperate, forest oriented experience
doing the PCT this summer
