Decided to come back to KTT2 to ask this question.
Been doing some soul searching and planning to quit my job in the future to travel for some time to figure life out (not the smartest thing to do, but I have funds, no gf, kids, or pets).
Thinking of backpacking around Europe and Asia and get lost in nature, but not sure where (first time leaving the US).
Before I do a real trip like this, I was wondering if anyone has suggestions on where to travel to for a week or so in Europe or Asia to explore nature and hiking?
@tunemoon @RedEyeJedi do you think those are good places as to go as a black man? Trying not to get too culture shocked (eyes staring at me or blatant discrimination) for my first time leaving

Most of Europe and Asia not an option then tbh

Is it that bad in Europe?

I'm talking out of my ass But from what I've heard. Other users can confirm/deny
If that's your main concern, try somewhere in Africa. Likely to require less money than most places in Europe/Asia too

Japan is an easy first country to visit.
New Zealand
Terrible idea. It’s expensive as s*** and got nothing but trees and nature s*** you can go see thousand other places nearer for cheaper.
Iceland
This is a good recommendation @op
I went summer 2019 after a life threatening experience because I needed to do something but didn't have much money
Borrowed a tent and rain jacket from some people I met through an outdoors club, packed a bunch of crackers and cranberries (all I really ate for the first three days) and went with no plan
Hitchhiked for two weeks around the country and absolutely loved it
Woke up in a new world daily and met so many different kinds of people
Went dumpster diving with this French dude I travelled with four days, the person that drove me to the capital when I was finishing my trip took me to his house to have dinner with his wife, Spanish couple that was working at a hotel I couldn't afford took me into their room behind the hostel and gave me their bed after dude saw that my tent was f***ed up (it's very easy to camp in Iceland so I did this as much as I could to save money) and we had breakfast the next day
just go to Thailand or Malaysia for what you’re looking for if you not considering African countries lol. it’s only an hour flight between the 2 for like <$80 and you’ll get everything you’re looking for

nah, it’s bad for black people anywhere so just go. you can hit south of France for like less than $200 (aside from the ticket) and get that backpacking experience you looking for
then when you’re in Europe, just travel by train. i met a couple who came from Rome for $30 in Paris lmao
I’d just make sure to have Apple Pay or some form of tap to pay linked to a Visa credit card (not debit in case you get swiped, accepted pretty much anywhere), the physical card and some loose cash converted before you leave States
you shouldn’t need a visa in most countries with your US passport, but check just in case with our current government s*** changes by the day lol

better to get a debit card as well and get money from an ATM rather than an exchange office since some places here in europe still have an aversion to cards and the rates will be better
if you're hinting towards pickpockets regarding no debit card, i'd just say don't keep that much money on it and opting out of overdraft

nah, I’m saying when traveling, in case of debit card fraud, it’s easier to go with a credit card to avoid a bigger headache then have cash on hand just in case certain places don’t accept or the debit card linked to apple pay
with the debit card, if he does lose let’s say $500, the bank isn’t going to deposit $500 into his account until after they finish an investigation
with a credit card, they’ll just put $500 back on his credit as they proceed with the investigation
