It’s cus of ppl like op
Landmass is one thing but i was meaning population. If the power structure in america was more authoritarian or concentrated to one branch then it would be easier for this size of country but there’s so many people and so much bureaucracy between federal, state, and THe branches between them
China has 1.4 billion people. While they've heavily liberalized their economy, they were only able to liberalize by pursuing socialist construction, and still retain a few basic pillars of a socialistic economy. I'd still call them a mixed economy rather than socialist, but China does fundamentally prove that you can at some level employ socialist economics to huge swathes of people in large countries and see remarkable results.
Most americans cant even read bro
4th grade literacy crisis feels like actual warfare everyday
America is huge, socialism can work in countries that are like a fifth of the size of here tho sure
Yeah it would never ever work in bigger countries like Russia or China for sure
The majority of people who are working are living paycheck to paycheck I don't care about your cousin who was able to game the Forex market for a few months.
It’s not hard to make a decent enough salary in this country so that you won’t be constantly asking for a change in economic systems to get by
People of all income brackets can be living paycheck to paycheck. More often than not it’s irresponsibility and poor choices that lead to that
Socialism actually has a better chance of success developing in a big country if the big country is highly industrialized, which the USA is. The reason socialism had a hard time getting off the ground (but was/is ultimately successful and an improvement over the preceding mode of production in these respective societies) in Russia/China is because they were both extremely underdeveloped and isolated. But even against those odds, they changed the f***ing world and became superpowers.
My problem with communism given my current understanding is how do u enforce these rules against the development of capital and bias in ownership and maintain social order
Youd probably still need government and now the question is who determiens the laws and how do everyday people get a say in politics

+1
Capitalism is the best of the worst systems available.
But f*** socialism...
Poor people can get FAFSA grants and a degree from a cheap state college

Alright, I'm gonna respond peacefully and kindly. Sorry if I came in hot on my last reply, I'm a bit cranky this morning because I've been studying a lot to become an nurse. But I'm gonna pick out some highlights from what you posted

This is just categorically untrue. 50-80% of Americans live paycheck to paycheck, meaning one disaster can wipe them out at any time. Roughly 36 million Americans live at or below the poverty line as well.
Moreover, it is said that, from a national perspective, you would need to, on average, make $75,000 annually as a single person (gross income) in order to live a comfortable and secure life. That applies to 45-55 million Americans.
If we go at the highest estimate for people earning at least $75k/year (55 million), and factor out the poorest Americans (36 million), that still leaves roughly 250,000,000 Americans who are merely coasting by, while a small portion live comfortable and a smaller (but still large) portion live in abject misery. 286 million people who are ranging from homeless to saddled with student debt/chronically underemployed is a pressure cooker for some kind of economic change.
People of all income brackets can be living paycheck to paycheck.
Yes and it's a trash way to live regardless of income. Income doesn't determine your class position.
More often than not it’s irresponsibility and poor choices that lead to that
Again this is just categorically untrue. Student debt, cost of living, macroeconomic factors, wage stagnation, layoffs, etc, happen all the time/afflict millions of people. The vast majority of people who are struggling financially are caught up in a highly exploitative system that is beating the s*** out of them. The numbers consistently back this up. Very few people are truly making so much money yet are so irresponsible with it that they are living in squalor. Only 55 million Americans make enough money to live a comfortable lifestyle to begin with.
we pretty much have socialism in the uk and its going terribly. dont do it
Yeah socialism is when you colonize the entire planet and have a monarchy but there's free healthcare and college.

united "mass surveillance™" kingdom is socialist?
Yeah it would never ever work in bigger countries like Russia or China for sure
Well it didn’t

I grew up in the projects, parents making 10k a year, got a free ride to college using need based grants, and the only reason I'm not a homeowner is because I racked up credit card debt. Obviously if you have an illness in the family or siblings you have to take care of it gets more complicated so I was still privileged to not have to deal with that. NY also has stronger safety nets than other states

I personally wouldn’t want to live in a place like China because of their lack of human rights compared to America. I do think America needs better social programs i just don’t think socialism is the answer

Human rights are so great in America definitely no issues on that front whatsoever
Poor people can get FAFSA grants and a degree from a cheap state college
I did that and it worked out well for me but sometimes I feel like the exception. The government paid for a lot of my schooling but idk it’s rough out here for new grads

I’m not saying America is a utopian society but we do truly live in a place with free speech and some random stuff like the government mandating birth rates and how China has ownership over the money in the banks there’s a lot of shady s*** about China that makes me not really want to live in a place like that

B-b-but I waaanna goooo to Haaavaaard!

I find it hilarious when people talk about "China's lack of human rights" when they live in America...a military surveillance state, where they have the FBI and the IDF, monitoring the s*** you say online lol cameras everywhere, literally trying to remove the voting rights from groups of people down south, draconic laws that discriminate against transfolk and pregnant women, no free universal child care, ICE agents and police continue to run wild doing whatever they want with barely any repercussions for assaulting or killing somebody...
Like can we please stop going along with anti-China propaganda pushed by the American government in big 2026? I ain't even saying you gotta champion China or anything. But it just feels like all the s*** people regurgitate about China, also applies to the US.
