it happened it sucks. are we just going to extremes for everything, this is not an every case event

the internet has led to so many people killing themselves, social media etc can we stop acting like an ai suicide death is the first of this ilk and we are “doomed omg”

It’s more than just that tho dude actually look thru this thread

The environmental damage. The bubble that is about to pop the economy worst than any previous economic bubble.

Idk how to feel about ai

In theory ai should completely destroy the worlds economy bc our economy is based on trading labour for resources. And ai is already replacing labour.

That should destroy our social systems because our societal hierarchy is based on who has the most resources.

And that should destroy our political systems because our politic system is there to protect our social systems

And that should lead to anarchy.

But if ai advances to a level where it’s the top in every academic field then it should be able to create an economic system most beneficial to humanity. And provide the labour and technology to make it happen

Then people could create social systems that would be based on benefitting the most people, and we’d have the means to do it since the ai takes care of economic part of socioeconomics.

Then we could create political systems to protect the new social systems we create.

Ai could in theory remove the need for money. The only cost of food would be the time it takes to grow. There’s no farmer getting paid, no shipper getting paid, and grocery stores selling anything because they didnt have to pay a farmer for the goods in the store.

And at the same time ai can do the exact opposite and create hell on earth.

Ai is like Travis Scott. It’s either utopia or dystopia

There are valid talking points against AI (and the internet at large) but so much of it is hopeless defeatist misinformation negativity that only works at scaring people into doing nothing

so youre saying AI is just some tool like google that enables people to do stupid s***. I honestly would f*** with the AI space if it was only a LLM based off google to help people write, but its not. the way some of these LLMs are being trained is dangerous like just look at grok calling it self mega hitler or whatever just because elon decided to tune a few things.

Haha you know they read the newspaper right?
roughly 1 newspaper for every 3 people, or a household penetration rate of ~90%
Everyday plus Sunday (biggest day - 50 million+ circulation)

Weekday papers were typically 12 to 24 pages for major papers (e.g., New York Times, Chicago Tribune)
Sunday editions chunky boys were often 40 to 60 pages, sometimes more

    Assume:
    Weekdays: 6 days/week x 52 weeks = 312 issues x 18 pages = 5,616 pages
    Sundays: 1 day/week × 52 weeks = 52 issues × 50 pages = 2,600 pages

A dedicated daily reader in the 1940s could be consuming over 8,000 pages of newspaper per year, just from a single paper, nevermind multi editions

Won’t bore you with the rest of the Maths but that’s about 27 books a year in 2025 lol

The average adult in 2025 in the US reads maybe 8 to 12 books per year, so a 1940s newspaper reader was reading 2 to 3× more pages than most modern book readers

And they were just reading the NEWS. Yet they found time to do both

    Cook him!

there’s nothing you can do. just do your job and go home bro, everyone is using it in the workplace unfortunately. you can go against the grain and voice your afflictions to his usage…but rn idk if that’s the best option cause every company is in some way implementing AI into their system. even at mine, and our owner is 85 and does everything on paper old school.

I bet you’ll be trained on an AI app somewhere in the next 1-2 years at your job lmfao. it’s just how things are now and businesses don’t want to fall behind

the amount of times I’ve heard some of the most intelligent, wealthy, 20+ year career people say “just feed it to AI, it’s faster” we’re cooked man

this is a rly good point tbh. this is a big issue of mine as an artist, not taking the time to perfect things just rushing thru everything

a lot of people don’t realize that this is the issue with AI and was the same issue with books in the 18th and 19th century

witch hunts didn’t exist until the print revolution introduced witch hunt manuals humanity isn’t supposed to have access to this much information all the time, even back then, because eventually we try to fix what doesn’t need to be fixed

we’re supposed to live life and keep searching for truth

    https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2025/nov/07/chatgpt-lawsuit-suicide-coach

ChatGPT has been accused of acting as a “suicide coach” in a series of lawsuits filed this week in California alleging that interactions with the chatbot led to severe mental breakdowns and several deaths.

The seven lawsuits include allegations of wrongful death, assisted suicide, involuntary manslaughter, negligence and product liability.

Each of the seven plaintiffs initially used ChatGPT for “general help with schoolwork, research, writing, recipes, work, or spiritual guidance”, according to a joint statement from the Social Media Victims Law Center and Tech Justice Law Project, which filed the lawsuits in California on Thursday.

Deepfake ai needs to be banned imminently. Only a matter of time before a serious crime is deepfaked and leads to a big case

I mean what’s the end goal anyways?

To be able to spawn these entities into movies/tv/music?

We’re close to the point where decisions need to be made for humanity.
