May 27, 2022·editedYeah I don't really vibe with that either. Musicals in general aren't my thing, but even the good ones I wouldn't sit around listening to the songs. All That Jazz is an incredible movie but I would never listen to the music on its own.

What 🤨
Ive heard n watched some Musicals lol & I'm aware of some of the more well known plays like Cats & Hamilton before they were even movies. Ive tried to get into them & I still do from time to time.
Just something about the common scale, the commonly used sounds & the common way of how everything is laid out n paced A to Z from the lyrics to the rhythm to the structure turns me off. Theres no value or connection in it for me.
Its like the anti music of what music is suppose to be, to me. Barely any imagination, abstraction or hole filling. Its just straight up explaining directions or reading your grocery list in musical form. Its like a computer performing.
I never liked them even as a kid lol. I only did musicals in Elementary as School assignments, never had to do them again afterwards. I just naturally dont like the style nor did I grow up with it. Even when cartoons would have the occasional special of doing an episode in Musical format, I would be annoyed as hell as a kid.
Like for example, my least favorite parts of the Land Before Time series of movies were the Musical parts & I would legit fast forward through those segments on VHS n DVD as a kid even tho I loved the rest of the film 💀💀💀

Pretty much a work place/work life musical following the life of a single guy in his mid-late 30s whose close friends and co-workers are in relationships. During the course of the play he sees how these couples live and interact with one another in and out of work. Witnessing their arguments, struggles, and all that s*** and he begins to think that he is better off alone until he also sees the good that his friends and co-workers's relationships bring them.
Keep in mind it's a musical from the 70s so it's script has probably been changed around a bit to fit with contemporary times. No idea if that plot is the same today. I think it was actually revived last year.

Nah I get it. Like I enjoy musicals for the most part, but I won't lie that a fair amount of them are honestly corny as f*** lol to me they're the good kinda corny though. Entertaining s***, you appreciate the actors being able to sing and dance and remember their lines. There's a whole different method for acting on stage than it is for film and TV. You can see some very impressive visuals and stage design type s***.
It really all comes down to if you can stand all the singing and s***. If not then they just always gonna be a dub
