No the poor are richest in capitalist countries
its 2020 and you still believe this? i think i forgot to reply to someone who was also peddling this "poverty has decreased" myth.
bill gates propaganda really did a number on you all
you don't have to have bosses in capitalism...
ur example isnt even true for all animals female lions hunt and then the male lion gets first dibs
also people enjoy the fruits of their labor now... If i own a farm and you choose to work for me and your job is to pick the food and sell it you dont get to keep all the money from selling my food 💀💀
just a complete piss poor understanding of everything to do with life. please go f*** yourself.
“I’m a lazy lion uwuuu, let me roll around in this mud & smell daisies all day.
Wait fellow lion-bro, what do you mean you’re not gonna share with me that antelope you just hunted all alone?”
nah mane, this might be the impression most twitter users give but the reality is that there are many poor ass people out there working multiple jobs, and plenty rich people who dont even understand the concept of working, trust fund babies with everything handed to them

And? Now what bro? Like yes - some people are born in poverty, some are born opulently wealthy.
Wtf you want me to do, go scrap with God?

salty pea brained individual
“X thing is good if you ignore all the natural negative consequences of X thing”
“But but but its not truee capitalism!!!”
Because even when capitalism is corrupt it still produces better outcomes

Open your eyes bro, in my country 3 generations ago my ancestors worked constantly in poverty
Extreme poverty has fallen, it is constantly proven

yes extreme poverty has decreased, however capitalism for it to work requires mass inequality
honestly i don't care if there is relative inequality because system makes people more hungry to climb the social ladder but i support unions, ubi, welfare & worker co ups (maybe) to improve equality

Which country?
you have to have merit to get into college unless you are super rich like buy a building rich.
Eh sure. But typically buy a building rich already went to a great private high school and well prepared for college. And if they’re an idiot then they won’t even go to college because with that wealth they can utilize business ventures that will still yield far more money than any college degree ever will.
Because even when capitalism is corrupt it still produces better outcomes
Do the better outcomes include the destruction of a survivable climate?

Lol.
So socialism can magically save that
Lol.

i didnt even mention socialism. The threads not about capitalism vs socialism. It's about capitalism. You should escape the false dichotomy anyway

Uhm it's literally the only chance we have yea

True. But I also think market structure and the environment are mutually exclusive. Feel like your question to that guy was a straw man. You can have a relatively regulated free market that looks out for the environment. Not to mention the profit seeking private sector is what comes out with the technology needed to soothe the environment(ie: electric cars etc)

I don’t know where you get your information but they should be sent to the gulags

no, capitalism requires endlessly increasing growth and profits which are tightly coupled to resource use. we have already overshot planetary resource boundaries and continuing to do so will break civilization
you have to cap resource use and use the state to transition industries to sustainable practices, and at that point its not exactly a free market.
plus basic logic will tell you that a market solution isnt possible, 8-10% yearly cuts in emissions (what the IPCC says we need for the next decade) don't happen in this system unless your economy collapses lol

Lol i don’t think you read my entire post. You’re ignoring all the booming sustainable energy sectors that have recently shot up.
Also, yes You can have as I said a “relatively regulated” free market, which first of all we already do have but sure maybe we need to up environmental regulations a bit more.
And no it’s not basic logic lmfao. The industries I mentioned earlier(EV market, sustainable energy etc) are booming for this exact reason. There is a new demand and therefore there are new suppliers. We need to cut emissions? How do u do that? Strictly mandate companies to limit their supply(causing shortages) or allow new innovative industries to boom and take over that sector? Look into what companies like Tesla and Hyliion are doing for example in the trucking industry which makes for a major chunk of pollution.

1. its not just about emissions but resource use in general. for example EVs require the extraction of metals that are ecologically destructive i.e. lithium mines leak toxic chemicals and require thousands of gallons of water.
to keep up with endless growth we will need to ramp up metal extraction to unfathomable levels which will destroy biodiversity, agriculture, etc.
2. growth creates a demand for energy that outpaces clean energy. since 2000 we are producing 8 billion mWh of clean energy but demand for energy has increased by 48 billion ... that's why the US is still fracking and massively ramping up natural gas usage.
what you're defending is like shoveling sand into a pit that keeps getting exponentially bigger.
