the fact we gotta add juicy j and TI and KRIT (one of my favorite artists of all time but his peak has long passed) to this list of great rap albums is proof this is been a mid year

and I loved that tape and Kenny Mason's album. If not for familial tragedy I would've went to see him live that week he came up to nyc.

if you loved the albums then why you saying it's a mid year lol

Specifically making the requirement stadium tours when its travis kendrick and cole (2 of the big 3 and mcdonalds fortnite man) is one thing but niggas like 50, Wu Tang, Em, etc and that type of artist the narrative has always been that when they fall off in America they still have years of being able to do shows and tours in Europe and Africa

Where/how the f*** do you think Tony Yayo is eating caviar pancakes nigga lol

    shhhhhh lmao.

what does that have to do with rap declining? I could sit here and literally list to you the 100+ rap tours that have taken place from 2023 THAT HAVE BEEN WRITTEN ABOUT IN BILLBOARD (since niggas love numbers) until today and the millions they generated and you niggas would still deny that rap is fine

  • Hip-hop & R&B is great when you just listen to albums and artists and don't worry about charts.

Nothing wrong with a lot of these but we’ve seen it all before

Hip hop is coasting on s*** that either could have happened 2015-2021 or when it comes to the distortion underground tier of niggas it’s just not really rap music lol

  • Nah it can’t be, Drake saved hip hop

Kenny Mason not being more popular is a shame.

No hometown cosigns + some admitted creative stagnation from him (his own acknowledgement on this recent album, that last track kinda broke my heart) plays a big part in that.

The most innovative s*** coming out of Atlanta and instead niggas wanna d***ride a bunch of Thug clones that are now beefing over a female pedophile. I hate this city sometimes.

and I'd watch a f***in warriors regular season game to see those brother splash on em pause

perfect intersection between the soul of the game being intact and teams going deep into a***ytics. there are great ballers now but it's like the heart of the game isn't where it was and i feel like hip hop kinda suffers from that

I clearly stated that it’s the fans who got tired of hiphop but the same listeners who always been here are still here? None of the other genres have significantly rose in any way nor reached the peak hiphop has reached or gone above it in its decline but ya’ll keep focusing on only hiphop cause pop/country/rock fans finally leaving

Where the other artists from these other genres that compare to the stars always required from hiphop? why can hiphop consistently produce and did produce a new crop of artists that charted highly in the 2020s and that be harshly judged compared to other genres who didn’t do the same?

not a lot of hunger right now

may be because bball has turned into a rich kids sport

Just saying that using niggas who mostly peaked years ago doing shows overseas as an indicator of rap’s health is not an accurate indicator lol

They likely have years left of being able to capitalize on their past highs overseas like Wu Em 50 etc did in the 2010’s but that has nothing to do with rap at large

Because I can be impartial overall and still say a year that the highlights of rap were Juicy J, KRIT, and Kenny Mason is a mid year.

Once again, we used to not have to worry about what the young niggas is giving to us in this genre. I can both like albums and acknowledge what the overall grand scheme of a genre where the big 3 has not had a successful passing of the torch moment means.

too much rewarding of nostalgia bait and clones these days nobody wants to rap their ass off anymore
