I clearly stated that it’s the fans who got tired of hiphop but the same listeners who always been here are still here? None of the other genres have significantly rose in any way nor reached the peak hiphop has reached or gone above it in its decline but ya’ll keep focusing on only hiphop cause pop/country/rock fans finally leaving

Where the other artists from these other genres that compare to the stars always required from hiphop? why can hiphop consistently produce and did produce a new crop of artists that charted highly in the 2020s and that be harshly judged compared to other genres who didn’t do the same?

Bad Bunny? Sabrina Carpenter? Morgan Wallen? Zach Bryan? Olivia Rodrigo? Noah Kahan?

The biggest song of 2026 is by a new Country singer (Ella Langley)

The 2020s have produced no new rap stars as popular as any of these artists

They’re superstars rn that existed in the underground a decade ago amongst other artists who blew up like pump or x. That mainstream potential is really lacking in the underground now. I’m sorry, but Osamason or Nettspend are most likely never reaching that point, even though they’re in a position primed to blow up

    no I agree with you

  • RareRarFiles

feels like these kind of articles are made on purpose as well

i do think they wrung what they could out of hip hop and are moving onto different demographics

New niggas suck or only got production strengths which can't carry an artist for long and the old niggas either peaked a while ago or stuck in limbo because their corny ass fans can't stop doing Stan wars. Niggas can't write good fun hooks anymore either. Niggas forgot how to party. And conscious niggas too afraid to really take it there.

Also nigga f*** Billboard anyway bruh who gives a s*** this is hip hop!

Not even, that's an argument I've seen used quite a bit, but cmon even the production has become uninspired af.

does yeat count? could he do a stadium tour?

  • Valentine

went to 6 rap tours last year and 4 in just the last 7 months from artists of different age ranges, crowd sizes and relevance but niggas tell you hiphop dead cause of some streaming numbers smdh niggas stink off twitter ass a***ysis

Do you think that "rap is declining commercially" means that a total of ZERO people in the world are listening to rap music?

  • Classique

does yeat count? could he do a stadium tour?

I don't think he could but I'm old

idk if I'd call him a superstar. doesn't seem to have the longevity

who is the last rap superstar

    Probably Travis honestly

Uzi got close but never really reached SUPERSTAR status imo

  • insertcoolnamehere

    Deante never grabbed my attention

It's Kenny Mason as far as the (supposed to be) biggest thing to be from Atlanta.

And that's fine. The fact that you can find other artists with albums you like is a sign that there's still variety in artists in the genre to listen to, and there are still many good albums that have been coming out.

his last album flopped so maybe he had a good run tho

hard to argue and he definitely is a superstar

You’ll see when the next Em DMX 50 Kanye Mixtape Weezy etc tier moment/run happens lol

All of the rhetoric around rap falling off can be boiled down to no one is “going for it”, niggas preserving their brand or trying to fit into “the underground” (which ironically goes against the concept of an underground lol)

    S***s just not exciting bro

People know what you talking about but they also wanna believe hip hop gon be ok.

Jim hyping up mf Alice/that Future album in general was a sign of like oh s***...niggas really talking themselves into fake nostalgia bait instead of acknowledging that...bro s*** is kinda bad out here.

And I'm not saying that don't mean we gotta throw hip hop in the garbage like I said there are some hip hop albums I liked this year

But you can like some albums this year and also be like...yo why is Future relying on a Pharrell relying on an old Dj Mustard sound that even Dj Mustard stopped relying on...to make a single???

At some point you have to acknowledge s*** is weird.

You can acknowledge that s*** is weird and still love hip hop lol.

Hip hop is the literal basis of all the music I listen to, first album I remember my pops (RIP) ever playing on tape was return of the boom bap.

it is also nothing hip hop related this year that's in my top 3 (e.g. GENA, Kelela, and underscores)

There is variety. I'm merely commenting over the landscape of s*** entirely.

Like we don't have to go back a decade. 2022 and 2025 imo might be the best years we've had for hip hop in a while.
