I mean folk can still buy em if they want. I'm just gonna need these people who keep giving money to Gamefreak to understand they are giving them no reason to actually improve the games. The series has been on a very noticeably steep decline since Gen 6.

I would've thought Scarlet and Violet being an ugly and buggy mess would've been the one to finally make Pokemon fans put their foot down, demand better, and not buy it. I was disappointingly mistaken, so I don't even bother anymore

yeah but it's also a franchise of cute creatures for 6 year olds, like anyone who's actually looking at these games in terms of mechanical/performance quality are always gonna be secondary/low priority

I don't really wanna hear that as an excuse because these games were significantly better and made with more care (even with the glitches of Gen 1 due to the tech of the time) when we were kids in the 90s and early 2000s.

The new games are so brain dead easy and hand-holding that they're a slog with walls of text to get through. As if the story, gameplay mechanics, and themes are hard to understand when they aren't lol

In some ways, I feel like they're insulting the intelligence of the newer generation of players by refusing to give them any sort of challenge. Just because a game is designed for younger audiences doesn't mean the devs have to stop caring about quality or appropriate challenge

I don't disagree, at the very least I have the expectation for the games to work and not be extremely buggy upon their release.

They were able to get away with that back on the Gameboy and the first game, but with S/V? I just can't really cut em slack cause it's technically the third Pokemon game on the Switch console, maybe fourth if you wanna count the Gen 4 remakes. All of em made on the same engine.

I just don't really understand how it went so wrong lol they had 5+ years of working with the Switch and making Pokemon games (two of them "open world" similar to S/V) for the console.

Either way, I just been sticking with the Legends series of games. Feel like those games found the balance between challenge and casual play I wanna see from the series.
