The fact that OP wrote for the Harvard Lampoon (wink wink) and still roleplays as a self-made guy despite insider-trading for 1.2 million USD in his early 20s tells you all you need to know: Contacts are everything and you gotta be at the right place at the right time and know the right people, especially in the entertainment industry, unless your talent is undeniably high (rare).
Of course this wouldn't fit in with the TikTok mentor "immigrant on.his American Dream grind" image that implies everyone can make if it they just work hard enough and believe in themselves
We get it. You don't like OP. Why are you still here?
What does any of this have to do with his overall message?
In all seriousness if someone has a pitch, I personally wouldn’t put it on a public forum like this. my “business” email is somewhere up thread
I think idea theft is overhyped but better safe than sorry.
You should have led with gone girl cuz that’s an amazing movie. I’m not familiar with “stand and deliver”
*Cannon Cinematic Universe
Every movie will have a Nick Cannon cameo
Nick Cannon will play each individual tooth. Oscar bait

how important is moving to LA/NY for becoming a screenwriter?
how important is moving to LA/NY for becoming a screenwriter?
Less so in a post-Covid world, but still important. I’d say NYC for standup, LA for TV writing or screenwriting
It’s important enough that I suggest anyone who is serious should:
1. Write a lot, particularly work on writing a solid pilot or feature
2. Move to LA, even if it means living with some random family friend or relative you’re not particularly close to

ever since I discovered the site, I always thought it would be cool to hire someone off ktt
or actually to sign an artist off it since I got to know so many people in music
but it would be dope if this thread helped someone become a working writer

someone here deserves this W

For the record I got like $10k of that 1.2m and had zero idea the other party ran it up like that.

Great advice here, I actually do this. But lmao I record real conversations. Sounds invasive but idc because it’s no bad intentions and only to use as a reference when writing dialogue.
Big Family dinners is one the best times to take notes because of how intense the convos can get
I want to be clear it’s not like we are best friends or something lol. Also yes he’s a very genuine and nice and good and decent guy
My 3 favorite artists are probably Drake, Paul Simon, and Vampire Weekend. If I’m thinking all time my entire life then Tupac also. I’ve gotten to know Ezra and Drake so that’s 2 of 3
I heard a lot of songs before they dropped since they’re played at parties. I’m Upset, N 2 Deep, Signs, No Complaints, Nice For What, Behind Barz. Probably others I’m forgetting. Or in one case I saw an early cut of a video. I also saw a video that never came out. I can’t remember it but it was from NWTS. I think “Own It”
TV writing hours are super chill. When I’m on a show, it varies but it’s basically a 9 to 5. Maybe a 10 to 6. Simpsons was incredibly chill. I used to call it adult day care. I hope no one from the show sees that and thinks it’s a slight. It was a very relaxed, friendly, collegial atmosphere. Blackish was a bit more high pressure for me since the show was season 2 so still establishing itself, and it wasn’t just about jokes but also about race / racism and I was 23 / 24
That’s cool you’ve gotten to know Ezra I really like his podcast time crisis and gotten to have a couple convos with him he’s a cool dude. For someone who has some good ideas and want to get into screenwriting, what are some good tools to help get started and learn the basics.

Lmao what I give away? I’m asking a question
No need to get defensive. Thick skin is useful for public personas, I assume. We talked and you reasonably stated your point of view. That is all we could ask from you. Thank you for your responses.
All creatives are sensitive fam including me.
Thank you! Maybe it wasn’t trash. Honestly @ARCADE_GOON is write about a lot. I remember reading scripts for shows that got picked up and expecting to be blown away, and the scripts were… fine. Nothing special. It’s almost like a seed stage startup where you’re investing in the people and the team and the founder moreso than the idea
Those scripts were written by people who had build audiences for successful things already, without studio backing
Is making short films a good path to go on too?
Yeah. Honestly I could use some s*** to read
Technically I should make people sign something so they can’t sue me if I’m on a show or I create a show and they think there are similarities, but because you’re a fellow ktt user and because I don’t feel like it, I won’t do that
No lie this is a high key sus response bro…
What if OP made this thread cause he knew posters would send him free ideas. Genius.
Lmao you know how many ideas get snatched from forums like reddit? Lmao I guaranteed filmmakers be browsing through the “Logline Monday’s” threads just to find ideas

I don’t get why people just share good ideas like that. You know someone’s gonna steal it smh.

my roommate when I moved to LA, who is now a pretty big actor (actually he was relatively established then, but he's much bigger now) -- he and his gf, also an actor, used to have these epic shouting matches... I have the perfect couple fight / breakup scene if I ever need it someday
