I guess some of the failures it has done to their people in the past years similar to how we review Biden or Trump. I'm learning a lot about Cuba rn in between work and art, so I can't get everything at once.

Want to know both sides of the argument some of these people have.

I think anyone talking about the failures of the cuban government without mentioning the embargo is operating in bad faith

embargo is pointlessly cruel but im sure they havent done everything correctly

as no one has,

there’s the question of what choices the cuban government is making directly in regards to their current conditions and what they don’t have access to because of the embargo

i think it’s absolutely necessary to consider both of those parts and i think some socialists may have been missing that aspect with the messaging on this too, just bc we want socialism to succeed doesn’t mean individual leadership can’t be criticized and demanded to be better,

and then u have people who are saying “Listen to Cubans! It’s not about the US!” and it’s like yes we should listen to cubans but this situation is inseparable from the US when there’s a 60 year embargo affecting what your economy can and can’t do

i’m ill informed on this topic and just trying to get a better understanding from actual cubans who live there and it’s been mixed.

there’s 2 sides. both say that the embargo is an issue and should be lifted, but one side is putting more blame on the cuban government and saying that even if the embargo is lifted, it wouldn’t solve the problems in cuba because the embargo excludes food and medical supplies, and that the cuban government pays people in pesos but some of the major stores sell goods in USD. but i’ve heard more from the other side saying that people in cuba are happy and live good, they just want the embargo lifted. idk what to make of it
