His past music is what made him a legend, not this diet pop songs lmao. The rise of the weeknd from the underground was something unique and magical that hasnt been replicated since because everything was right,from the music to the aesthetics.

Now he just care about the numbers because the only thing decent is the aesthetics, everything else is just ok, nothing special. Such a shame to see that potential go to waste.

Imma put it this way. The weeknd music was so special because it was unique and hard to replicate. Literally his own sound.

I get the feeling you hate BBTM and Starboy. They aren't mind blowing albums in terms of thematical substance or sonical cohesion, but most of the individual songs are great or at least the singles are.

his singles in the pop era are usually the standout tracks on the album but if heartless & BL are supposed to be the standout tracks for chapter 6, then yikes...

This is big facts - the lead singles off of BBTM and Starboy (Hills, CFMF, Starboy, and IFIC) are decade defining pop songs. They're pop done right.

Heartless and Blinding Lights would be pretty good album tracks that might be tapped for the third or fourth single.

Back in the day i was all in for a pop weeknd album, he deserved the shine. I was happy af with ICFMF because even tho the song was kinda corny and very poppy it was a really catchy and solid track, the moment i heard the leak on ktt1 i knew it was gonna be a hit.

BUT, i thought his plan was dropping pop singles for the masses and the album was gonna be full of artistic godly music for the og fans. Feel me? , perfect plan, balanced for all kinds of fans.

I was wrong and bbtm had plenty filler, a couple of good singles and diet trilogy songs. Really mid s*** if we compare it to his past work.

Starboy was gonna be "different" and i expected alternative revolutionary pop. I like it more than bbtm but it has a lot of filler too and nothing trilogy tier.

MDM was the only thing that kept me a stan so i literally expected nothing from this era. Now he is doing worst than his last eras, not only the music is mid, is also not hitting with the masses as expected. Whats the point of selling out then?
