In alternate reality, they’re watching Chris Hemsworth as Daemon Targaryen
or henry cavill
"Episode 1 of #HouseoftheDragon seen in cinemas. A full scoop of #GoT trademarks: politics, sex, juicy violence, hard-to-enjoy violence, intrigue, well-known houses, regalia, power struggles, dragons. A hopeful & a little too vigorous return to Westeros"
It is curious that the overwhelming majority of characters adapted from books very rarely stay super faithful to the source material's characterization. And usually people don't seem to care much - except when it comes to skin color.
Like, EVEN if that mf is both black, and a Targaryan - who cares? Targaryans aren't interesting because of their skin color. GoT Targaryans also greatly differed from the books, interestingly enough.
Nah it's cringe stuff, especially when the characters description matters to the story like in GOT where stuff like lineage is super important. These guys are supposed to be pale with white hair, a black person with white dreads just looks out of place and stupid let's be honest. Feels like they're just pandering to a certain audience.
Comissioner Gordon in the latest batman being black for example doesn't matter imo the character is just supposed to be a cop
I’m excited for this ngl. Have no clue what it’s about besides it focusing on the Targaryen dynasty tho
is the og show really as good as people say ?
Seasons 1-5 comfortably are absolutely amazing, never seen anything remotely close to them in terms of scale (movies or tv) before. Acting, directing, special effects, sets, etc all top notch.
I know a lot of people feel like it falls off after season 5, but I personally didn’t feel any fall off during season 6 and 7, still absolutely loved it.
Season 8 though…yikes. You’re gonna be hard pressed to find anyone that likes the end.
But again, the journey and the grandeur of it all is so amazing regardless.

Some of the best character and world building in any television series ever
You'll hear from a million people that the ending was trash. It was rushed for sure but I think people overstate how bad it is
If the author of the books actually knew how to finish the story the show would've been much better off. But both he and the showrunners ran into the issue of having a very concrete ending set from the beginning of the show and allowing the characters to develop organically, so some things towards the end feel off

If you were following it on a week to week basis, then yeah, the reaction to DO will be more visceral than of someone who binged it. Or maybe time heals all wounds, looking back. That ending is garbage tho and deserves all the hate and apathy it got

If they stuck the landing it would be the greatest show ever easily. That being said it’s still a top 2-3 show ever which says everything lol

Binging definitely helps. Did a rewatch last year and I found myself being pretty okay with everything that happens towards the end. There's actually a bit more setup for it than I thought, especially in the earlier seasons.
Second half of the final Episode is still the worst s*** I've ever seen tho.

It doesn’t matter in both instances.
