Yep she absolutely is an unreliable narrator.
I watched a behind the scenes of this episode and the director says that Rue is indeed unreliable af and the lip tattoos never happened
It was just her imagination
Damn,
now I’m wondering what else she imagined vs what actually happened. Hopefully they expose more of her lies in Jules’ episode
Also this episode kinda confused me, did it expose Rue as an unreliable narrator? Because I could’ve sworn her and Jules got “Rules” tatted on the gums?
With next week being from Jules’ perspective, I feel like it might really expose some of Rue’s lies about what happened and how things happened
She def is unreliable, she even says so herself in ep 1 or 2 i think.
The night of the party she specifically says i can be a unreliable narator
Glad we got something new but I don't think this was on par with the 1st season.
Nevertheless it was fun to dive into Rue's mind and learn more about Ali
Great episode, different from what I expected but excellent writing and acting nonetheless.
Ali's bit about Nike was on point
If this is any indication for next season, I hope Zendaya's got room for more awards
When is the second special episode out?
I’ve seen a lot of people saying early January, not sure how reliable that is though
swear to god this is like the 5th HBO show this year that has used a Moses Sumney song in an episode
my man securing that bag
Me in 20 years giving me that sigh of relief during that conversation. What a great song choice

yeah the dead giveaway was when she told dude her and jules were in a relationship lol they were never dating

the juxtaposition between Rue looking forward thinking of what the next 20 years could hold and Ali looking backwards thinking of the last 20 years. Such a beautiful, emotional scene

tbf, I know a few people irl that would make that same mistake
Im on the last ep on my rewatch and i gotta ask.
Why was the writing criticised so much?
Its not some BCS or BB type of slow burn masterful writing, and sure it has a few silly moments but i actually think its rly solid

Everything else about the show is elite, writing is the worse part of it. That’s all you can really criticize
Are you guys forreal? Zendaya's acting was horrible
Nah, I like the acting, but still fell asleep anyway.
