It was good. I think doing a few side quest will definitely add to the overal scope of the main story quest, if you’re paying attention to the dialogue. It’s nothing amazing, but it’s pretty solid imo

So much grinding required. I been playing it on n off for the last 3 years

That is my fear with some RPGs but especially JRPGS( no offense to Japanese developers) really applies to all games when there is too much grinding or too long a tutorial. Ni No Kuni was like that for me . I was like 30 hours in but still very early game or still teaching player mechanics which in one sense is dope because an 100 hour game can be rewarding as f*** to beat and gives that feeling of a long journey then can new game plus, but often leads to too much filler. Game lengths going from a tight 10-20 to 25-100 has been like Damn. Yes we get more "value" in a way but also some stories simply don't feel like they need to be that long or the gameplay loop is so similar in sequels that I feel gassed out or nothing propelling me forward

Writing is the definition of mid. Feels very tacked on for the most part.
