I mean, you have to keep in mind this game was made by a developer whose previous experience were mobile games.
Skyrim and Elden Ring were games built on foundations that the two developers had been working on for a decade plus.
Also, how many people were expecting this game to come out and end up being genuinely good?
Yup, I don’t get the “Elden Ring has more spells” argument. So what? Different games, different developers, different purposes
lol I don't be mentioning game of the year til end part of the year. I think it was wild people were mentioning hifi rush goty too
lol my reasons for not wanting it to be the top selling game is partially cause then everyone going to try to adapt movies and books major series into games yet will they put the same effort in?

Probably not and it may be a s*** show . But hey it will be fun to watch at the least . A positive is this studio getting unlimited lead way to do whatever they want

They likely just going to do a sequel. Glad to see them win and wonder where it leads WB next
You said all of this to still give it an 8/10 lol that’s pretty great
Yeah? Something can be great and still have flaws. Even a 10/10 has flaws.

Harry Potter is built on the foundation of the books and movies, and there were more spells in the books and movies, so the argument is moot. Even the enemies have more and cooler spells than you.
For this game to be an 8/10 is incredible, I agree. I certainly wasn’t expecting that at all.
The Skyrim and elden ring complaint is an odd one for me . Granted the combat style each spell in this game is very distinct and work well with chaining together. the amount of spells comparable to the games you mentioned would just be fluff in this game
Hell a lot of it is fluff in those games
Half the spells don’t even work in combat, so you can’t really chain that many spells together. A sequel with twice as many spells would be a huge improvement. Some really epic spells like we see in the movies and films would be cool.
Even ancient magic is undercooked, you press a button and it kills an enemy, there’s no uniqueness to it.
I still love this game and 8/10 is really high for me. I’d give skyrim and elden ring a 9/10 imo, and those are from established devs.

That’s not how game development works. Almost every game (especially AAA) starts out significantly more ambitious than what ends up being released because they actually have to factor in what’s feasible, within budget and within the given frame of time allocated for development, so things get cut or whittled down.

Yeah I’m just saying they should have spent more time adding spells and less time filling the world with 500 collectibles, rip-off botw puzzles, fetch quests, etc.
There’s plenty of spells in the books and films to use, it’s not like they need to come up with it themselves.

Quidditch would have been perfect with online multiplayer. But I get trying to fill the world with things

u gotta work on your dodging
Alright the honeymoon phase with this game is starting to wear off.
Most of the puzzles in this game are just ripped straight from breath of the wild, they didn’t even try to add a spin it.
Enemy types are a bit too simple.
Games like skyrim and elden ring had 100+ spells, this barely has 20 and some of them are just for creating and modifying items for decorating your room lol
They made it sound like there would be lots of classes but you only go to one class for each teacher.
The highlights are definitely the main story, customization, and exploration. I’m thinking it’s an 8/10 overall.
F*** I SHOULDVE READ THIS BEFORE I BOUGHT IT
u gotta work on your dodging
im trying to. Does running fast and rolling do the job?

The troll in Hogsmeade at the beginning?

8/10 is high on my scale btw, I would recommend this game. It just has room for improvement, hopefully the sequel has more classes, better puzzles, and twice as many spells

Give Avalanche Software the benefit of the doubt man, they mainly made s***ty Disney tie-in games before this. This game will obviously get a sequel and you’ll get your wish lol

You’re projecting negativity onto my comment, I really enjoyed this game. I don’t give most games 8/10. You can really enjoy something and still give constructive criticism. I’m not being harsh on avalanche.
