The Weeknd the kind of dude to promote Gunna with a 🅿️ meme tbh
he's not worried about this, Dawn FM is a good album and he's been eating good money these past years
weeknd always been super vocal about being over the moon with #1, there is no way this wont hurt his ego lol especially considering he's been trying to upgrade to stadiums lately. He wants to be a huge superstar
this is a dent in his career, no doubt about it
Ppl itt are not even happy for Gunna
this is just a Weeknd hate thread
I'd bet half the people here haven't even listened to either album
They was really trying to come at you in the Dawn thread for your guess when you was on point
It really isn't hard to soft guess numbers, especially when the initial projects drop. Some people just wanted to remain in denial for some reason.

idk that this is a "dent" in his career. we're so forgetful. we'll be over it when the next big album drops and underperforms or some new scandal comes out.
blowing that super bowl performance would've been a "dent" in his career. something a lil more significant like that
Meh. Don't really agree. I think if a hit is a hit, it will blow up once the people hear it. See you in 1-3 months when that happens with TMB i guess.
TMB has had months to blow. That simply isn't happening.
TMB won't be the one, it's been out since August lol
hopefully Sacrifice hits tho such a good song
Dude, youre right. I was wondering why TMB sounded so familiar on the Dawn FM first listen. I chalked it up to it just sounding like a future hit to me. S*** just sounds like something you hear on a Walmart commercial or something. But yea it sounded familiar cuz I heard it in August
Still think any of Sacrifice, TMB, or Gasoline can do numbers. Krazy run to start the album
idk about this man lol yeah most artists, especially those signed to record deals, care about success and recognition of their work. but does everything always have to be a part of "the game"
maybe he just released Take My Breath cause he was really proud of the record, maybe him and the label agreed it would work the best on the album. we don't really know
also in your other post, Blinding Lights and LIG were not the only memorable hits since the pandemic started lol
He made it that way, he did so much to get sales for AH era that folks had to change the rules. He doesn’t get the benefit of the doubt.
Oh yeah you right, The Box was really major. That was released before the pandemic as well.
what happens every album thread? people not liking the music? sure.
i think the hundreds of pages comes in with the foul ass disrespectful s*** people say, niggas stalking each other's posts and bringing up old s***, threats and coordinates being handed out. you know, that typa s***
On one hand I get it and I agree it’s unnecessary in general which is a conversation for another day but all that considered…..
As we have watched The Weeknd evolve from niche artist who was only known or actively listened to by people who enjoy his music to a major artist these are the things you have to deal with. He’s a big dawg now and the big dawgs are prone to mass backlash whether it’s fair or unfair it just is what it is. Any of the other heavy hitters in the industry have to deal with it and he is no exception. That’s the irony I find in all of this

XO fam are all overdosing on copium in this thread with some of their takes. Abel spend the whole of 2020/2021 posting stats and numbers. They're delusional if they think this s*** won't hurt him lmao.
Dawn FM is real music to you?
More so than DS4. Not because of the type of music but simply because of the effort that the two have put into their albums. Gunna's seems half-arsed while you can tell Weeknd went all in when creating this one.

If he goes number 1 next week then he’s still got one.
The stadium tour is still gonna go well. Dude is a global star, he’ll have 50-70 thousands people in stadiums from Australia to Seoul to the UK.
Gunna getting the number one is cool but is he even gonna sell out stadiums across America at this point let alone the world?

His tweets have been super passive aggressive this week.
He def is dwelling on it.

That stadium tour is gonna get cancelled

go crazy
don't start now/levitating remix
i mean am i buggin? i heard these s***s all year lmao
He's not going #1 next week.
I don’t think Gunna got the shelf life to stop him. He only got past Abel by like 5,000 units.
Is anyone else dropping this week?
Maybe some people don’t like the album
sure, it’s also clear that there’s a lot of people itt who have some sort of vendetta against the weeknd because of their favorite artist though…
That stadium tour is gonna get cancelled
Doubt it.
Dude is still a big star internationally.
A bad album rollout ain’t gonna change that.
He's not going #1 next week.
You think Dawn will sell less than 90K in its 2nd week?
It will get #1 eventually. If not in its 2nd week then when the physical copies will be sent out which will happen at the end of the month. Unless an A-list drops an album that week but nothing announced so far.

Encanto (a Disney animation soundtrack album) is going back to #1 next week. HDD has already released early projections saying so.
