III and VC only aged well to people who grew up playing them tbh. III popped my cherry when I was in 4th grade in 01-02 to a lot of different things so I hold it in high regards as the “game changer” because there was nothing on its level until Vice City came out which was better in different aspects.

San Andreas is on an entirely different level from the former 2. I’ll go as far as saying San Andreas is better than IV off the strength of content and freedom alone. IV felt like a step back from San Andreas

So I’d say gauge it like this. Excluding GTA V, San Andreas is the next peak of the series. If you think it or GTA IV aged bad you probably won’t like 3 or VC, many limitations in those games especially III. A lot of bugs, frustration, etc. but if you grew up playing those it’s part of the experience and it’s almost welcoming. I can’t see anyone who didn’t play GTA III and Vice city enjoying it now gameplay wise but I could be wrong

SA is definitely the best of the PS2 gen but the settings are all so unique from each other that I think they're all worth playing. And just the missions and characters in general.

Agree with this. I personally think it’s worth it. I play GTA III once a year and still love it. I just know how a lot of people are and coming from GTA V and going into III will be a world of difference to a lot of people. This is what happened to me playing GTA 3 first then playing 2 months later when I was a kid but that was a SIGNIFICANT change lol

Yeah. It's still weird for me when I hear that someone hasn't played the PS2 GTAs. That s*** was like the renaissance if you grew up during that time haha.

expecting this level of remaster as a minimum tbh if Mafia developers can make a 2002 game look this good, why can’t Rockstar do the same to a 2004 game 🤷🏽‍♂️

GTA SA is the culmination of that engine and era

GTA VC is less good but most beloved for its Miami Vice aesthetic

GTA III has a very mysterious vibe to it and the main character never talks

As someone who had a speedrun record in GTA SA and appreciates the 3D era games a lot, I am afraid they will leave 3 and VC wonky.

For example 3 needs more aerial vehicles any VC needs swimming abilities.
