Elden ring is just death stranding walking sim. No story. Just a hard game for no reason. Fromsoftware can’t keep getting away with this!!
Elden Ring really isn't a hard game. You can make it hard but it gives you all the tools to run through the game on easy mode basically.
Ragnarok a cool game very easy to get into
elden ring for f***in dark soul neckbeard nerds with nothing else better to do

Elden Ring is GOATED but has the worst fanbase in gaming
Game of the Year =/= “Game I’ve Played for Most Hours”
People play games like 2K, Madden, COD, and Destiny for hundreds and hundreds of hours and none of those titles are anywhere near GOTY.
It’s asinine to compare the playtime of an open world RPG and a single player action adventure
Lol it’s asinine to compare multiplayer games played for 100’s of hours versus a single player game you play for 100’s of hours 🙄 generally if you play a game a lot it’s an enjoyable experience and even more so for a single player game that isn’t hundreds of hours of repeated quests like assassins creed or dying light.
And GoW is more open world than other action adventure games like TLOU and Uncharted
This sounds like projection.
But in most cases, you’re probably right
Don’t make me post my degrees my money my clothes my passport stamps etc

You should post them.

Exactly, it’s asinine.
So saying Elden Ring is better because you get more hours out of it is also asinine because the game you’re comparing it to isn’t open world.
Yes, GoW is more open world than other games in its’ genre, but there’s still a limited amount of things you can do and places you can go. Most players will have done everything in Ragnarok in about 50-60 hours.
And yes, someone playing a game a lot means they enjoy it, but that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s better than a game they’ve played less. I have hundreds of hours in 2K23 because I’m a basketball fan and I enjoy playing with my friends, but Ragnarok is leagues better of a video game in every single comparable aspect. Just because I’ve played 2K23 for double the amount of time, that doesn’t mean it’s a better game.
Not saying that one can’t say Elden Ring is better than Ragnarok for various other reasons, but using the playtime is a bad argument for it because the games are two completely different experiences

My playtime argument has more to do with replayability than time spent playing the game. Resident evil 4 is probably a 20 hour playthrough but you can get 100+ hours out of it because it’s so fun to play that you replay it a bunch.
Comparing single player games to multiplayer is asinine because single player games naturally have finite content where as multiplayer have infinite experiences. I don’t think it’s unfair to compare playtimes between two large scale single player action adventure games. If you want to differentiate that much between similar games then you might as well argue that you can’t compare any games
When was the last time the goty was this close between two games?
Idk but 2018 GoW deserved it over RDR2

I’m not saying Ragnarok and Elden Ring can’t be compared. I’m saying they shouldn’t be compared on something like replayability because the nature of Elden Ring lends it to be replayed way more than Ragnarok.
By your argument, every single player open world Ubisoft title is better than Ragnarok because one can get more hours and replays out of it.
They should be compared on aspects they both share like performance, gameplay mechanics, story/narrative, customization, graphics, etc.
Two things are true:
1. The amount of content in a game has no bearings on the quality of said game.
And 2. Games shouldn’t be compared based on length/amount of content unless they’re operating within the same genre.
A Sony exclusive that would make way more sense to compare with Elden Ring based on content/length is something like Horizon.
Ragnarok & Elden Ring should be compared by aspects they both share. For instance, I wouldn’t compare the voice acting/cutscenes of the two games because clearly it’s not a main focus of the latter

I already excluded Ubisoft games in my previous reply because they have hundreds of hours of meaningless content( fetch quests and whatever ).
When comparing two games of amazing quality I think it’s fair to give an edge to a game that has more of that amazing quality. I get what you’re saying tho.
Horizon is a great comparison to showcase how much better ER is because ER’s open world is so much more detailed and interesting to explore than Horizon. ER did open world way better than any other game because they didn’t do any of the normal open world tropes. Even GoW has a whacky objective pointer system similar to other open world games.
Ragnarok is my GOTY
I believe that Elden Ring will be the game that wins GOTY
