For the 21st century I do agree with you. I just think politics has become too identity based and performative for movie writing to ever come close to the great female leads of before with Sarah and Ripley. Everything is just too much "look im a strong and independent woman" instead of just showing them be that.
I'd say Furiosa, Katniss, Hermione, Lydia Tar, The Bride are probably my favorite female leads of the last 20 years
Katniss
Katniss
just a badass character with actual empathy to her and she also is allowed to have flaws that make her human. Most female leads are like Rey: "perfect" because the writers are too scared to show a woman with flaws.

Idk I just remember absolutely hating how her character was written back when I read the books
It’s been a while could have a different opinion

Yeah from my perspective, I read the books after watching the first movie so perhaps I read them already having my perspective of her being like the movie version, which honestly made me like her so much that it made me want to read the books in the first place.

I hear fury road is even crazier, which is nuts lol
Maybe not crazier, Furiosa is pretty wild, but there are more action set pieces per minute. Furiosa has a little more exposition because it's a prequel and is trying to set things up.
ok Hunger Games watcher
its certainly better than True Grit. One of the worst movies I've ever seen

Furiosas switch to green screen allowed for some of the wildest staging of action set pieces ive seen since like Spielbergs Tintin

this movie was actually so f***ing fire and it pisses me off that the only conversation around it is about f***in box office and if people will watch female leads.
like this is actually a great movie
They should rename these movies to The Furious Furiosa Saga
This ain’t no “Mad Max Saga”
Women are leading the charge now

when this movie suddenly blows up on digital and they greenlight Furiosa 2, 3, 4, and 5
You'd think this s*** would be a hit considering its pure action and octane whist having great direction but I guess that's not enough

Furiosa 2 already exists bruv

Meh, the Fast & Furious saga easily clears
Twisted Metal season 2 and the Borderlands movie will also be better than whatever this was
Real cinema is dead
