Drake triggered af watching this opening scene

    SCOOOOPITY POOP

  • This was a good ending
I’m glad none of the main characters died, just ending with a Darius focused episode wrapping everyone’s arcs up

  • TFW no more wondering when the next season will be

Didnt really get the "whole show is a dream" vibe from that tbh

Me neither. They played with the trope and left it “ambiguous” but the imo the trope was only used as a vehicle to give us new perspective and closure on Darius. That smile at the end + sirens is definitive enough for me. Also supports the theme of Darius moving on from the glimpses of his past we saw in the ep. Whole series may not have been a dream but Darius is def someone who has always had his toes dipped in escapism and that finally hit its peak here. But as his brother said, he shouldn't be in there he should be out there.

The surreal elements of the show can exist without being attached to dream theory. Preferably so personally

At the moment I'm not thinking it was all a dream tbh.
But look at this quote from Hiro from last month, GQ asked what he thinks the visual aesthetic for Atlanta was and this was his answer

"When you're in a dream everything feels real in the moment....wake up, that was a dream"

It definitely seems like the showrunners intentionally want to blur the lines between dreams and reality .
Which leaves the audience wondering what tf was real and what wasn't.
They want us to comb back through the series and question everything

Weirdly enough, this quote doesn’t really further my personal belief that this show was just a dream. idk

I loved this episode and yea I think they leave it up for interpretation but that’s what I love about this show. Darius says he go to those appointments once a week, the guy at the place says he was asleep for 30-35 mins, length of an episode.. maybe the whole show was him dreaming in the tank each week. There’s more to it but nonetheless, whatever the point of all of this was, it was a great sendoff to a great show

Rewatching season 1, ep 1, this ending makes more sense. Paperboi and probably Earn got killed in that opening scene. Because bro had shooters too. Darius was talking about Deja vu. Im assuming Van is alive. And we see her grief in season 3

so is this why Darius always so carefree because he is never really sure if he is in a dream or not?

It was a 50/50 on ordering Popeyes or Ribs to eat while watching this afternoon... I went with ribs.

    I F***ED UP

I was crying when they were in the car with the chicken out of happiness.

This finale is up for interpretation like The Sopranos and Inception.

Just like Darius misses his brother, he misses his friends. Earn and Van are gone in LA. Al is at his farm. Darius is in the tank, still in Atlanta, remembering how it used to be.

Just like with any d***, you can get too consumed with the euphoric feeling, being in the tank. Darius will end up living in the past just like us as the viewers will go back and rewatch the show.

    Inception.

You have to earn (no pun intended) an ending like that which would give credence for that type of ending. Yes, weird s*** happened throughout, but we've never seen hints that this was all Darius imagining s***. Was just a undeserved copout way to end to seem more deep than it was.

Darius’ brother tells him he doesn’t want him here (living in the past) he wants him out there (being present). Compare that with the last scene when Al asks if Darius is coming out to smoke with them, Darius tells him “I’m coming I’ll join you in a minute just wait for me sir” and then checks to see if Judge Judy is thick and when he sees that she isn’t thick, he joins them outside and finally accepts his presence, the smile is the transition between his escapism and acceptance

Nah I don't think the show was a dream either, but it does make it clear the showrunners want it to feel dream-like
