Really? Episode 2 is one of the funniest episodes of the entire show but also gives a lot of understanding of Earn’s character. Episode 3 was just f***ing hilarious but also showed a lot of s*** that be going on the industry

Episode 1 was really good but I am not as big of a fan when they include the sci fi elements, and Episode 4 was hilarious and very relatable but didn’t do as much for the plot of the season so thats why I ranked how I did but I do like all 4 episodes a lot

Only episode of Atlanta that ever kinda felt like filler to me. Not that it wasn't entertaining, just wasn't all that special. Idk

disagree. the closest this show ever came to “filler” was the Barbershop episode and that was a classic

The two episodes remind me of each other lowkey. Atlanta is about the black experience so it makes a lot of sense they would do an episode dedicated to just exploring older black folk. s*** was sooo relatable to a lot of black people’s family dynamics the same way the Alfred/Bibby plot resonated with black people who deal with erratic barbers and hairstylists.

It added a lot of context to the Marks/Miles family dynamic and it also gave you a little hint of what Earn’s future may be like. Like I said before, I can really see him being very similar to his father once he gets older.

Speaking of him, I love the fact that Earnest Sr. (forgot the character’s actual name and don’t care to look it up - Earnest Sr works for now) was using a Bluetooth while he was out. I feel like the obvious direction to go in would be having Earn’s dad be comically out of touch with that kind of technology like a lot of older folks but nah, he knew what he was doing. This makes him a little more complex. You get the vibe that Earnest Sr. is an intelligent man who’s not adversed to adapting and trying new things even in his older age, which is probably why he took a chance on trying out those hats.

The best character though was Aunt Jeanie. She was this fascinating mixture of my older passive-aggressive Christian aunts and my more hood, lowkey miserable ones. She had me dying, and it was the smallest things that made her character so gold and true to life.

“if you hungry, there’s some cough drops in my purse”

“you didn’t want to bring Lottie to church?”

“y’all still ain’t married? well it’s a good thing we’re going to church. you can ask God for forgiveness”

“This whole family is against me!!”

Earn and Alfred’s exasperated “okay auntie” responses to her yeah this episode is def season 4’s equivalent of Barbershop no doubt

lol no it’s just members of the choir doing a choreographed routine. i haven’t been to church in over a decade but watching that s*** brought back memories. it used to lowkey creep me out as a kid, never understood why they did it in whiteface but i assumed it was a reference to miming bc they wouldn’t actually speak or sing while doing it, just mimic the song

mileage varies on these kinds of things of course as all black people aren’t the same. when it came to the Barbershop episode, I related to it but didn’t at the same time

I could relate deeply to Al’s connection to his one barber and fear of getting another one bc I’ve had the same barber since I was a toddler. I haven’t been to him in two years and ever since then, I’ve been lining up my own s*** bc I’m too afraid to have anybody else do it lmaoo

But the time-wasting and lack of professionalism that Bibby displayed, nah I couldnt relate to any of that, my guy was always a pro. But I know a lot of black people who could relate and it was still funny as hell

Lol that’s funny cus I’m the opposite, I’m not afraid of going to another barber cus I have a few I go to. But my main main one I can definitely relate to the unprofessionalism. Obviously not to THAT extent but the whole odee talking on the phone, making you watch videos, “aye lemme cut this person real fast it’s gonna take a second” I can relate to that.

But it’s part the experience and funny to me

Lmaooo my main barber goes out of town a lot so I got back ups

  • Oct 2, 2022

My barber has too much staff turnover, every month I go there they got new niggas cutting hair I'm still going to the same place I've been going to all my life though, its just the people that change. There's one guy who been there for years, his sister owns the place. But he f***ed my line up the one time I went to him, never gave him another shot I'll sit there and wait until someone else is free if he's the only open chair
