It's back to normal. I thought S3 was a big miss and wasn't excited for S4 at all really but first two episodes are great
I’m happy that they’re going back and I see from post that old characters are coming back, maybe tieing up some strings from the first 2 seasons🤔it’s lit
The 2nd episode was crucial
Explained so much about Earn so fast
Hope every main character gets an episode of that tier
Was there really music scavenger stuff after he died?
Nah lol just probably making fun of it when he was alive
Damn, even though I think he was still f***ed up for that, I respect your point of view, thank you for the input
Appreciate it
I feel like the response to Earn’s actions by the characters and the audience is an example of how people tend to downplay the impact that “casual” racism can have. The show has constantly addressed how dismissive white people can be about these situations but this episode shows how Black people (like Al, Darius and a lot of the audience) can do that kind of thing as well by writing off Earn’s anger as simple pettiness. We often feel inclined to downplay the little offenses bc it’s not as bad or dramatic as the big offenses.
Being racially profiled when you’re out in public with your family isn’t as bad as being gunned down by the police, for instance. So it’s easier for people (again, including black folks) to downplay the former as just a slight everyday inconvenience instead of something that can be extremely traumatizing.
It was traumatizing to Earn, whose life was ruined at one point because of that same type of racism. And it may have even been traumatizing to poor Lottie. We don’t see her but that little girl had to witness her father being harassed for no discernible reason and her mother breaking down in tears at the distress of it.
And it’s made worse with the knowledge that Lisa pulled that stunt with every black person she encountered. But she got her comeuppance bc she ended up f***ing with a black person like Earn who - unlike most other black people - had the money and resources to actually get back at her.
Earn is truly living every black person’s fantasy, making racist cacs cry and ensuring that black people get paid in the process. I’m so proud of his development. I wanna be that nigga when I grow up fr
Yeah I noticed The Sopranos thing, too. But nah, Earn = Tony and the shows aren't even in the same tier lol. You don't just have the character development of Tony Soprano because you go to therapy and make morally questionable decisions.
Hard disagree
If the show had made a devoted effort to frame Earn as the centerpiece in each and every single episode of the show like they did here, he def could have been on Tony’s level as one of the all-time great tv protagonists. But that wasn’t nor isn’t the route they wanted to take

I at least think Earn could have been the best sitcom protagonist ever
He probably still is up there
So good to see my nigga Tracy back
I see he gave up the waves and grew his hair out loll
Didn’t watch yet but were the episodes good? Is the formula to this season similar to the formula of last szn? Are they still on the European tour?
This episodes are great and they take place in ATL
Can we talk about Earn being abused by a family member ? That came so left field (not in a bad way) and now I’m wondering if that storyline will pop up
If it's in this show, i just expect it to never be brought back up again.
Isnt his therapist the nigga who he worked with in season 1 or am i tripping? Where do i know him from
No. Different guy.
Earn's therapist is the narrator who goes "FX Presents....Atlanta. The following presentation has been rated TV-MA and is intended for mature audiences"
ay bruh im only like 5 minutes in and this already s***ting on szn 3

No. Different guy.

OMFG
Man living in Atlanta and watching this show is a real trip. I think I’ll miss that more than anything. The context is just that much deeper when you’ve actually been to Atlantic station and understand that A) you really do always seem to run into somebody you know there and B) the parking deck is a f***ing maze
So, nobody's going to mention how the scene from Earn and Van going through the dark emergency exit, and coming out on the other side didn't signify a (re)birth of some kind? (I mean, notice their dialogue about the walls, the sounds, and seeing a light at the end. It's beautiful)
Especially, it being the first ep after a very surreal season 3. It comes off to me as a rebirth of the show in a way even, leaving the surreal s*** of the whole Atlantic City garage thing behind them.
And then, it also coinciding with Al's eerie scavenger hunt which ultimately lead him to nothing else but the simple truth. That in spite of the hope and illusion that the scavenger hunt created, the truth is simple, and Blue Blood's dead. The journey/hunt itself was great and exciting, but at the end he had to make peace with the truth tho.
