The only thing that S3 does to me is make a S5 necessary. I think the whole concept of S3 works way better when you get two seasons before and after that focus on the main case, with the middle season being kind of an interlude. Now there just isn't enough time left to have with these characters and their situations.

Plus, all the best TV shows have five seasons.

Edit: Didn't really finish my thought / fully articulate but I still think S3 was a great season. It was brilliantly devised. Loved the stories they told. Yes it was frustrating to not have the main cast all the time but I still enjoyed the themes and messages and stories. I just want more time with the main cast so that'll be the only shadow that S3 casts on the series for me

When Donald said the season 4 would have a similar tone to season 1, I was kinda worried that we wouldn't get any more creepy/horror tones that 2 and 3 had

But knowing that feeling is still there made my hype shoot through the roof

I’m only half way through S2 but a lot of this s*** is really heavy, some of it is very dark comedy.
