I enjoy the random episodes like this where they arent following the main characters
episode was cool but donald gotta cool it with the black and white stuff while he literally married to a colonizer
Ngl him and jordan peele both gotta explain that s***
I feel like most new writing these days stems from social media.
I mean seriously you have people tweeting all day, that serves as the basis for the dialogue and then you just tweak it from there
Yeah there’s a lot of ideas that I feel like stem from Twitter and make it on the big screen. But I feel like this topic woulda been better executed on random acts of flyness. Idk if anybody seen that show but it addresses a lot of black topics but not in a “social media” way. It’s one of them shows that I’m not sure how I got green lit by the bosses. Amazing show
On one hand I get the criticism, knowing that this show only had sixteen more ~20 minute episodes in the entirety of its runtime, I understand why people can get frustrated when two have already been completely devoid of the main cast and characters.
On the other hand this was still immaculate, brilliant, A1 television and storytelling.
nah this episode wasnt it
it started good, i thought it was gonna build to some weird s***, with the black guy at starbucks and maybe he was like f***ing his wife or sum , or sum even more crazy
but then it turned into a cliche episode about race like
and i hate the trope of the random guy comes outta nowhere and tells the plot then does something weird

Yeah I f*** with that show. Do you know if there’s any channels that breakdown those wild episodes?
the last line about tipping not being part of restitution tax is perfect if this is true

Not for sure but I should be interviewing the creator of random acts of flyness soon to get clarity on some of those episodes

WTF let’s go
the last line about tipping not being part of restitution tax is perfect if this is true

Wait nah I’ve never looked into this….what’s the history behind tipping??????
Now it makes me wonder if the whole dude working in a restaurant in the end connects to this theory?

Yessir can’t wait to watch fam. Quote me when it’s out 🤝🏾

Doesn’t seem like it’s origins are linked to US slavery but it still being around is

How would the black guy f***ing his wife have been better? R u just tryna say u wanted more surprises?

I wouldn’t say that would have made anything better but I thought they were going there when the daughter begged him to come home on some weird s***
Thought the dude on phone from coffee shop was in that car following him

It would be dope to find out why he left Space Jam 2. Thought that woulda been dope based off the visuals of the show and the same person who made that show handling such an iconic property

lol this season outside of the narrative advancements is exactly like long form random acts of fly ness
Which can be dope as it’s own spinoff thing but niggas wanna see Darius paperboi and earn shenanigans
Niggas don’t got to tell me how f***ed up white people are ad nauseam lol. We get it dog lol or at least tie it into what the gang already doing like the blackface or white guilt s***.
This s*** ain’t for “us” lol
Hoping that they don’t alternate each episode like this between narrative and abstract racial lessons for the rest of the shows run
Chapelle show did this better
The first couple seasons were an evolution of that style of humor without forcing it like with Earn and the dollar bill at the movie theater and the gun but these niggas is making whole pilots for a different show Lmao
s*** didn't have any subtlety to it man. they literally had the redneck spell out the entire theme of the episode. which like... is this episode for white people who didn't already understand this?
I can't speak for everyone but for me I dislike this episode solely based on execution. I don't care that it doesn't follow the main cast, I thought three slaps was great.
I do feel like the execution was a little off. I think satire can get away with being unsubtle. To me, that’s one of the charms of satire.
But on further reflection I think I’ve identified a problem with this episode. It’s an issue of character.
I liked the concept, but as far as following a character for a whole episode… this guy was bland. Bland by design, but bland is bland. There wasn’t a whole lot of interior life to him.
I think it was a strong idea that needed to be fleshed out a little more, to approach something as ambitious as they were trying.
I have no problem with diversions like this. They took a risk, and to me, they hit the mark at like a B+. I’m definitely not mad at it.
I haven't watched the first 2 seasons since they aired so I don't remember them perfectly, but I feel like the show used to have more plot. especially season 1. now there's basically none (so far). the show has always had really well written parables about life and race, so it's not like that's new, but I can see how some people might not feel it as much without plot mixed in. some people want a show about paper boi & earn's career rise and all that
This
Without even getting into the self righteous episode descriptions that indicate they feel they doing some ground breaking s*** wit the basic racial lessons they’re peddling lol
At least just keep one of the main characters in the “detour” episodes a la Paperboi and the forest, Van and Earn at the party, and Darius / The MJ knockoff

That was the moment where it jumped the shark for me too like dog.
Like are they fr spelling it out for mfs right now? That was some full house level end of episode moral of the story exposition s*** lmao

I thought it was crazy he was assigned to that film. Bugs bunny was gone be dunking with a kufi on
